I keep hearing rumors that we are getting some more Ohio transfers, does anyone have any info. The rumor I heard is they have seniority and will bump a lot of people back to B-Crew. I really hope this is not true but now that the union elections are over this would not surprise me.

Union meeting said that KTP would be bringing on another 150 or so of new hires by next fall...would bring in transfers instead of new hires if any truth to the rumor. Looks like LAP to me

I saw two groups of about 15-20 people touring the plant(LAP)today. They didn't have the deer in the headlights look so I assume they were transfers.

10 will probably be about right. Ohio is about tapped for volunteers. The last posting for LAP there got 6 I think. They still think they're getting cutaway units from KTP....who knows...

This is soon to be my 16th year at KTP. I realize that 16 years is not that big of deal at this plant. I also realize that I am extremely fortunately to be on A crew at this stage of my seniority. Many of my friends with similar time is still on evening and weekend shifts in the Body Shop where I hired in. After 7 years on C and B crew I took a chance and left Body due to losing C crew in that area. Before leaving I lost my position on C crew to an Ohio transfer. I will never forget the day my Team Leader came to me and said " train him for this job"!!! I admit I told him I'd not train any Bleep to take my job! I walked off mad, hurt and confused why this was happening. This talk of transfers has brought back many memories. One memory in particular is that no matter what, there's nothing any of us can do about this. Several of those transfer are good friends and I cherish the fun and conversations we have each day. Just hope and pray that no body loses there job they have worked hard to get but also realize there are probably few of these guy's transferring that wants to leave their homes and move here... The Lord knows if FMC came to me and said the only place to go and finish your last 10 or so years is another city and plant, it would be hard but looking into the eyes of my children and family I'd have to go. Let's just take a breath and TRY to put ourselves in their shoes and try to understand they are not here by choice. Hopefully it will be a low number of people and nobody will be forced to leave their area or shift because of this. God Bless

This post was never meant to offend anyone I was just posting a rumor that I had heard from more than one person. Transfer language in the contract is a great option, God forbid you have to use it.

I wouldn't mind them, if they didn't whine and talk about how they did it back home. Only worked with two that haven't.

I will never forget the day my Team Leader came to me and said " train him for this job"!!!.... How did he force you off of your position? Was he medically placed, because his seniority (and SEVERAL other factors) could legitimately replace you. (Procedure in Local Agreement, Letter of Understanding in Volume IV (4) of National Agreement) Was it a TEAM VOTED IN RULE that seniority on the team could do whatever job they want whenever they want? I don't think a rule like that would hold up if you got the union and fought it. Our team only allows movement by seniority to AVAILABLE jobs that aren't already taken regardless of the current possessors seniority (bidding on them). That's how it should be done. Yea, that's my opinion blabla Was it some "I've got seniority and where I come from we can do whatever we want to!" crap and your team leader crumbled and said "Ok" and neither of you got the union involved or did and then the union rep caved too and said "Ok"? Mind you, this is just a speculative question. I'm sure all 3 of them were great folks.. #1 above is the only way he could legitimately, contractually, take your position, as far as I know if you contested it.

He probably meant he came into the plant and went to C crew body and had more seniority therefore he was bumped because of his low seniority . At least that's how I read it.

The reason I was bumped from my job is, after the transfers were brought in, Body rolled the 24 lowest Seniority from C to B. The Ohio transfer had time on me and I lost my position on the team.

So you got rolled to another shift and this Ohio transfer was going to be doing your job after your roll so he just needed to be trained on it. I understand now. I thought you meant he bumped you off your job, which technically it doesn't sound like he did. He just had seniority to hold C-crew and was going to be on it after you left so he had to learn it. So you just got rolled to another shift and lost your position, not bumped off of it before your roll by this person specifically, but by the volume of transfers that were coming to C-crew. Sorry if I seem a stickler about details, I just like to clear up any confusion for people. I've seen folks get fightin' mad in the plant before, because they didn't understand a particular detail that seems small but completely changes the situation when properly understood.
