I see it all the time. What you do when your union brother and sister are the ones, knowingly doing these safety violations. Just to get the job done. And don't tell me to let our union safety know because it seem like don't care because its still going on. I told our brother and sister about themselves and I was told, they cant do their job without stopping the line. (Kiss ass)

Don't want to through a union brother and sister under the bus. What do you do. Safety is our responsibility.

This is legitimate concern. Unfortunately I have been around long enough to know that people are gonna do what people are gonna do! If there is a real potential for someone getting hurt I would bring it to managements and the unions attention. Hate to be a hater and throw anyone under the bus. But sometimes people just like to learn the hard way. Good Luck with your decision.

Calm line 3 high line. A 6ft fall can kill a person. See what I am talking about. Edited because it seems this post has drawn attention of both management and union. Was told it's my best interest to change. Either way the company and the union are liable for your safety. Just be sure to document every occurrence and get witness names and numbers.

Good luck, Todd. The system only works, with a lot of work. Sometimes it takes an assembler to just say ....fuck it, this is unsafe, I'm not doing it.
Shouldn't be that hard, but thats often more effective than going to medical.

Yeah we had a lot of people get hurt on those jobs up there. Didn't want to spend money on a fix, until medical started to get flooded with people

I used to be opposed to using medical as a means to "fix" a job. Then I went from hard worker to trouble maker because I was put on a ridiculous job and tried to reason diplomatically for change. Medical is sometimes the only option.

Medical is sometimes the only option. Thats true, Greg. Sad but true. Unfortunately, thats the easiest way to get problems addressed. But its at our expense.

Yesterday a motor fell off our the conveyor over on calm line 4. Two weeks ago a piece of metal fell off unto an escape. If either one one would have hit someone, it would have hurt or killed them. Why didn't they shut it down and inspected the whole line. And yes the union knows about both.

Why didn't they shut it down and inspected the whole line. And yes the union knows about both. When Donnie Mitchell and Bruce Day were our building chairs, they did shut things down until they were fixed. Now you can die on the line and they will kick your lifeless body out of the way to keep the line running.

If you are on a job that Health and Safety refuse to make safe and it is hurting you, call OSHA. Not only will they come in and asses the situation, they will also fine the company and possibly the union and will have the problem fixed much faster. Also OSHA will document the problem something the union nor the company does. This will help your case if you ever get seriously injured. In my case the company and the union mysteriously lost or claimed that there was no documentation to the job that injured me. Luckily a few documents and copy of emails magically appeared stuffed in my locker last year.

IMO CALL OSHA EVERYTIME. The Union boys who were given their jobs don't like to make their co-workers angry...Hint: we ain't their co-workers, the salary people are!
