Local 862 Phone Banks - We are in need of assistance at our local union phone banks. It is our duty and obligation to educate our membership on our UAW endorsed candidates. Lunch will be provided at both union halls. The times are listed below. Please make sure that you sign in so our International CAP Department has your name down as participating.

On Saturdays from now until election week, there will be Labor Walks out of the LAP Union Hall beginning at 8am. Coffee, doughnuts and juice will be provided.
Out of the Darkness Walk - As of Friday 10/03/14 the upcoming Nov 1 Out of the Darkness Walk has received $26,981.76 in donations with 353 walkers registered.
The Louisville 2014 ODW will have twenty one sponsors; up from sixteen from last year. The walk is Saturday, November 1, 2014. It begins at 10 am. On-site registration is available and check in is 8:30 am to 10 am. You can also register at Louisville Metro Out of the Darkness Walk.
“Battleground KY” War On Labor – Hurry there are limited (13) seats left!! There will be a bus traveling to Paducah, KY on October the 11th to fight the war on labor. This is a Battle Ground stand up and fight back program that will convene at 12:00pm (Paducah time). The bus will depart from the LAP Union Hall at 8:00am. UAW Kentucky State CAP and the KY AFL-CIO are providing the bus for the trip. Mary Briscoe is the contact person for the sign-up if you wish to attend. Call the LAP union hall (502) 969-9136 and reserve your seat today! There will be refreshments on the way there. Please wear your union clothing representing your local union.
Get Out The Vote - The A. Philip Randolph Institute is asking APRI members and any other volunteers available on Election Day (November 4, 2014) to help get out the vote by providing transportation to the polls for those who need it. The APRI office is located at 1801 Northwestern Pkwy upstairs in rear of building. They will be working from 6:30am to 6:00pm. Notify Cylister Williams at (502) 558-4009 or the call APRI office at (502) 774-4834 and give your name, hours you wish to volunteer and a telephone number where you can be reached.
Submission of National contract resolutions for 2015 negotiations – Forms must be submitted to the local union by December 1, 2014. You can obtain and/or turn in your forms via your committee person, the in-plant union offices, or either local 862 union hall.

World’s Largest Halloween Party at the Louisville Zoo – Don’t miss the sweetest party in town. Fall Discount tickets are available. $7.50 per person online for the following dates, 9-12, 16-19, 23-26, and 30 of 2014. To purchase tickets go to the e-store login at tickets.louisvillezoo.org and enter the Store Name “FORD”. The zoo closes early to regular daytime visitors on Halloween party nights. Gates close at 3pm, stay until 4pm. Halloween Party starts at 5pm.
