LAP Retiree George Guthrie Ahart, 92, passed away on 3/2/15
Ahart, George Guthrie, 92, passed away on March 2, 2015 surrounded by his
loving family.He was born September 15, 1922 and was an Army veteran of World
War II. After his service to his country, he joined the workforce at The Ford
Motor Company where he retired on January 1, 1988 after 43 years of
service.George was a 60+ year Mason with Valley Masonic Lodge #511 and Pleasure
Ridge Park Lodge #959, and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason with The Valley of
Louisville. He was a York Rite Mason, Valley Chapter #65, Order of the Eastern
Star, Kosair Shriner, a member of The Central Kentucky Society of Past Masters,
a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, past Grand Chaplain to the Grand Lodge
of Kentucky, and a member of Beechland Baptist Church.He was preceded in death
by the mother of his children, Zelma Ahart.Survivors include his loving wife,
Yoshiko E. Ahart, a stepdaughter, Mayumi L. Jeffries, stepsons, Charles I.
Parks, Jr. (Becky), and Patrick I. Parks (Misty); a son, Alex Ahart; daughter,
Joy Gray; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.George was a
highly respected man within his Community where he touched so many lives.Funeral
services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with
burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be
from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
donations of sympathy be made to Kosair Charities in the name of George Guthrie
Ahart.
