KTP Retiree William Thomas Baker passed on Tuesday 10/27/2015
William Thomas Baker passed away peacefully in his Cedar Hills, Utah residence
Tuesday, October 27, 2015. William remains one of the greatest father,
grandfather and friend anyone could ask for. His smile, humor and character
infected everyone that had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.
William was born just outside Goodlettsville, Tennessee in Davidson County on
April 7, 1928 to his loving parents John Will Baker and Allean Wheeler. With
strong patriotism and loyalty, William enlisted in the Army on September 2, 1950
during the Korean War. Shortly after beginning his active duty, he married Mary
Jane Ralph on November16th, 1950 at Ft. Mead, Maryland. After his service in the
Army, William worked for DuPont, and eventually began working for Ford Motor
Company. He enjoyed a tough but fulfilling career as a pipefitter at the Ford
Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky. He retired from Ford with over 40 years of
service, but never stopped working. He gave of his free time to anyone who
needed it. He took care of the grounds at his local Lutheran Church in Kentucky
for several years. He loved working with his hands and was always working on a
lawnmower or engine and fixing things around his house or anyone's home he was
visiting at the time. He was an incredible man with strong convictions and work
ethic, and loved his wife and family dearly.
William is survived by his son Dan Baker, as well as 7 unbelievable
grandchildren and 11 incredible great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by
his loving wife Mary Jane Baker, daughter Lydia Darlene Andelin, and his
great-granddaughter Alyssa Maree Barlow. The family would like to thank all the
staff at The Charleston of Cedar Hills, the caregivers from Symbi Home Health
and Hospice, and all others who provided friendship and care in Middletown,
Kentucky where Bill and Jane lived most of their lives. "Pa"--as he was known by
many of his family--will be forever missed by everyone who had the privilege of
knowing him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at the
Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Family and
friends may call on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to services at the
funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors at the Provo City
Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.warenski.com
