Probably not a good idea to go out on break and do certain things.
REALLY not a good idea to put up a post on facebook about it.
Companies, including Ford, are firing people for what they put on social media.
Dumbasses.
Spread the word. Or not. What do I care?

Shoot here at LAP we have people with 15+ years getting fired for posting stuff on FB its not just new hires.

Yep...I still don't understand why anyone would join a fb page hosted by their employer or union. At least on here most of you can hide behind a made up username. LMAO

LMAO At one time people were worried that the govt would use some form of intrusive technology to spy on people. Such as the tvs in orwells 1984,or Ira Levins ,less popular but my pick of the two, this perfect day.(no tvs but same idea ). As it turns out many many people are all too happy to post all the gory details of their daily lives on social media for anyone to see and use as they see fit. Seems dumb to me but what do I know?

Cameras are fine, but we need drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every gate now. I don't take any drugs, prescribed or other. I rarely drink. But I fully support other's God given right to do to themselves what they please. As such, I don't care who does what in the parking lot. I'm not in prison. I have been convicted of no crime. I don't need, nor do I support such "big brother " intrusion. If the company fired every type person that many of you seem to wish gone, we'd never have enough manpower to run.

What we all need to realize is that we are the "old timers" now...the older guys talked about us the same way we are talking about the new hires now. They are the future and they will be fine. Some need a little liquor or drugs to get by, some don't...as long as they can function, do their job, and not endanger anyone else, all is good. It's not going to change...20 years from now, these new hires will say the same shit about the future new hires...see the trend?

Funny how cameras are used for this. But let cars get broken into, and when you ask for the footage - "the cameras were never activated, do not work, are being maintenanced, etc." I find it humorous...

Drug dogs? Metal detectors?
What's next? No liquids in larger quantity than 6oz and taking off our shoes to walk thru the doors?

You want to get wasted do it on your own time. Don't risk your safety, as well as that of your coworkers.

I've seen many of them unfortunately. I once had a guy who seemed too intoxicated so I informed the supervisor. He got sent to medical and they sent him home. Fortunately it was just a bad reaction to some meds his doctor had him on for a head cold. I'm not a rat but when I feel my safety is compromised I have to say something and so should everyone else. You are responsible for your own safety and that includes not working around anyone who is obviously unsafe for whatever reason.

You think the public doesn't know what goes on in factories?Just about everyone has a family member that's a factory worker somewhere in America. Its all the same.

You want to get wasted do it on your own time. Don't risk your safety, as well as that of your coworkers. Exactly, just because it may have "always" gone on , doesn't make it any less stupid. Its a miracle one of these idiots haven't walked out in front of a forklift & gotten killed , or one driving a forklift hasn't killed someone. I don't know about the other 2 crews, but I don't see much of it on A crew, 1 guy very young, was so messed up his co-workers called & got him some help, they weren't rats, this guy was killing himself & endangering others, hopefully he appreciated it & got the help he needed to clean up, either way he couldn't work in that condition. It endangers your life, your co-workers lives, according to the job you do potentially the life of a customer or their child. It affects quality, which affects the bottom line & on & on. It should never happen in the work place, ever. That goes for union officials & reps as well. Ok... I'm ready! Let me have it.....Lol

I'm the person that doesn't care what any of you do as long as you do your job and you're not making me work harder. I'd appreciate the fact an MP&L driver or a finished unit driver didn't run over me, but I've seen sober ones run over people as well.

You don't care because it hasn't injured you or someone you care about yet, if it did, you would be leading the charge. Don't get me wrong, I know it won't change, but it's still idiotic to do on the job. And "real" parents do keep up with their kids.

Not gonna argue ..I know the best of parents who thought everything was great till they get a call "Johnny " ODed on heroin..Its on the tv everyday..And I don't know of anyone hurt in here and got busted for being UTI..Guess you do though..It is a bad thing for sure.

No supervisor should need another Union member to inform him his employee is wasted. They have eyes.
I don't think some poor schmuck shooting seat bolts 10 hours a day is any more or less a danger to himself or others if it takes a lil sumthin sumthin to get him thru the day. Shitfaced is another story. Course, that makes just life in general dangerous too.
I've worked in all kinds of factories. Honestly our plant prolly has the least percentage of workers on drugs or drinking of all of them. It's not a pro drug thing. The fact is we are factory workers. We all just happen to be well paid factory workers, which makes it easy for people that need to do so to pretend they are more than that. We're not.

Yeah, I wasn't wanting to argue either and yes even the best of parents still miss things, that doesn't mean you just give up & don't try, don't think that's what you are saying. That guy I was talking about, no one told the supervisor, they got union involved & tried to help him. Supervisor didn't care anyway. Not trying to start an argument, just my opinion, we all have one. What I've told my kids, just because your friend drinks & drives & never has an accident, doesn't mean its a good idea or acceptable, same principle.

But you have to realize that in Body or Stamping we are dealing with razor sharp metal that can cut you in an instant, even severely. I have seen sober people get months off on workmans comp because they got cut and required surgery. Being intoxicated in any way only makes this danger worse to not only you but the person next to you. Yes a supervisor should be able to see it but we are our brothers keeper. I will not let anyone endanger my safety or anyone else's. I will however try to take it to a committeeperson or team leader first. I come from an emergency service background and safety is one thing I tend to be very serious about. So like I said if you want to get wasted to it on your own time, not Ford's.
