KTP Retiree Emil M. Kirchgessner Jr. 1930 - 2017
Kirchgessner, Emil M. Jr., 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 27,
2017. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company
after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 and a
life-time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Emil enjoyed playing
cards, going fishing, and telling stories. He most certainly never met a
stranger.
He was born on January 30, 1930 to the late Emil, Sr. and Irene (Missi)
Kirchgessner. Emil was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rita (Korbe)
Kirchgessner; daughter-in-law, Roberta Kirchgessner; grandson, Patrick
Kirchgessner; and brothers, Clifford and Edward Kirchgessner.
Emil is survived by his sons, Robert (Merlinda), Merrell, Donald (Colleen),
Vernon (Patricia), Melvin (Martha), Irvin (Linda); siblings, Albert Kirchgessner
(Betty), Marcella Graf (Ted), Mildred Fessel, Martha Rhoades (Everett); 21
grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 8 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Newcomer
Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 8 AM. His
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday in the chapel at St. Mary
of the Knobs Catholic Church (3011 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial and
military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
Contributions in Emil's memory may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society
(651 Eastern Boulevard, Clarksville, IN 47129) or to St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105). To leave a special
