I know this was the case as of about 10 years ago and have a lot of close contacts to the railroad to confirm this (sorry, nobody that can help get get anyone hired). Cost was somewhere between $4000-5000. The tests you will have to take and rules you will be required to learn are nothing close to those like at Ford. Be prepared to work at anytime on any day and forget anything along the lines of a normal or predictable schedule. Not trying to scare anyone, just want to give a heads up. Goodluck!

they pay for the 6 week training in alanta ga and pay you 576.50 per week while down there. then you will have about 12 weeks of on the job training at 700.00 per week. after that you will start a 2 year step to full pay. most conductors in nashville make 100,000 plus per year. they have a very good retirement plan. probally not for every one, however, just wanted to let yall know its there, if anyone on ilo like i am needs a good union job. work safe, take care, dozerman
