FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state
office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010 in honor
of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring
Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Benjamen G. Chisholm, 24, of Fort
Worth, Texas died Aug.17 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained
when an improvised explosive device caused a military vehicle roll-over. He
was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat
Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Pfc. Chisholm will be held on Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. Central
time at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fredericksburg,
Texas. Burial services will immediately follow at the Garden of Memories
Cemetery in Kerrville, Texas. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all
state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that
day.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government
agencies to join in this tribute.
