How can one transfer to LAP from KTP when they get running, got to get out of here, Management is pushing me to the EDGE, and only one in the union that's worth his salt is Scott E. others seem to not give a shit about just showing up, and getting back to what they were doing , if they make their rounds at all. don't know how you keep getting reelected

If LAP needs the 3500 workers they are predicting, anyone at KTP wanting to transfer should get the chance to do so. Maybe Steve Stone can help clear up the matter?

When LAP reopens and recalls everyone, if they have a job posting, KTP employees may get a chance to sign up. However, if a lot of LAP RTBU's go back and leave KTP short of employees and they need to hire, things may get complicated.
I would hope that Stone would work with Eskridge to make this a possibility. It would also allow KTP to hire more entry level employees. Many 2000 to 2003 employees that have time would love to raise up the seniority list this way. After years of getting crapped on - it would be nice for them to see some green grass.

Everything at LAP is going to be just like it was before, right? Maybe, maybe not. When they brought the new product into KTP, the Superduty, it was with the MOA. Things changed from the old Medium/Heavy truck days, there was no fighting it, the plant had no future without it. I hope both plants stay open and productive, but things change.

I wouldn't expect LAP to be much like it is now as in the way management treats you. They will be under pressure for NUMBERS!! Start-ups rarely go smooth.

The Placement Hierarchy, Appendix N is in Volume 1 or online on UAWLAP.org under Contract: uawlap.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Hierarchy.pdfSTEP 1: IN-PLANT RECALL LIST (After Transfer of Operations from KCAP) – A combined seniority list of Plant Protected Status employees, preferentially placed employees with recall, eligible laid-off, Return to Basic Unit and Article VIII, Section 1(b) rights to the hiring location, LAP. That is all RTBUs at KTP, CAP and CSP and employees on ILO from LAP. That is about 800 members that will be given the opportunity to return. There is about 550 at KTP: (125 were there because the 425 went last year). STEP 2 COMBINED IN-ZONE (Zone 7, KTP/LAP) PREFERENTIAL PLACEMENT LIST – In-Zone Posting Process • Protected Status Employees • Employees on Indefinite Layoff in Zone • Active Employees at locations with employees in Protected Status or on Indefinite Layoff (This is where active KTP employees could be given the opportunity for a posting) – Closed Plant Return to Area – Mandatory Placement: If not enough volunteers, any employee in zone on ILO. Heard that LAP is going to bid jobs before the KTP transfers and ILO's get to come back. Hope that isn't so because that will mean that we are going to get f***ed over again by the LAP union just like we did when they sent us to KTP and they had already bid all their jobs and then screwed us by leaving us on layoff while bringing the lower seniority employees in first. Steve Stone or Herb Hibbs maybe you would could comment on this issue.

There will be many jobs posted prior to anyone going back to LAP or being hired...it should be that way. We could have stayed if all we were worried about was being able to bid on jobs while being down for retooling. If you have seniority, this should be the last of your worries. If they need 3500 jobs, there will be plenty of good jobs for anyone with decent seniority...good luck!

Who will come back to LAP first? ILO (not currently working at KTP or chicago), KTP transfers, or Chicago transfers? As of now, what is the word on when that may be? I heard July 2011 and Ive heard Nov 2011.

One at a time: 1. For transferring - in order - Kansas City employees that sign up to follow their product will be surveyed first, then those actively working at LAP now, then finally, ex-LAP employees that have Return to Basic Unit (RTBU) rights will be surveyed by seniority to come back. If they have not filled the manpower needs at that time a job posting will be put out showing jobs available at LAP. 2. I am now hearing around Sept. 2011 for reopening ( Just in time for the contract negotiations) 3. For KTPers that want to go to LAP at that time, their will be some variables. If all of the RTBU's at KTP sign up to return to LAP their will be a void left at KTP. They will need to hire and train. In that instance, they may not allow transfers to avoid excessive churning of the workforce. If their is a low number of RTBU's to sign up to return, they may take some that will sign up by seniority. (Pure speculation right now) Scott Eskridge will be directly involved at that juncture as well as Steve Stone. It is too early to speculate on KTP employees signing up to come over. I am sure Scott Eskridge will have the last say at KTP.
