I have a 2002 sport trac with the check engine light on. Went to autozone and it came back a PO171 code. It says the computer has recognized a rich or lean condition on one engine bank only. Does anyone have any suggestions, know of a website I can find this on, or a shop around here I can take it to that will give me a reasonable price? Thanks in Advanced

There's definitely something wrong. When I'm sitting at a light it starts jerking real bad.

You need the best mechanic LAP has to offer...Pat White. I'll text you his phone number...he lives between Billtown and Taylorsville Rd off Gene Snyder.

Sounds like it is tied to one cylinder. Could be a bad spark (plug, wire, coil pack, etc.), or an injector either clogged or hanging open. How many miles on the plugs? You can unplug each plug individually and see if anything changes. If you have a change, you know that cylinder is okay. If no change, the cylinder bears more checking.

Will you guys read the link I posted. It is a "lean" condition. Meaning either the O2 sensor for tht side is bad or the MAF sensor is bad or dirty. It has nothing to do with the spark plugs or the coil pack. I know because my friend's 98 Explorer had the same code and we replaced his O2 sensors. No more codes and it ran better too.

The OP said that it was rich OR lean. You could have saved yourself the trouble of a second post and pasted the text of your link. Anybody can be a parts changer. Being a mechanic is a little more difficult.

There is a vacuum line below the throttle body , its a larger one about 5/8 it starts to break down will give you the condition you have. Will also cause misfires to give ya a bad idle.
