Stone Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Oct. 12 FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 in honor of a Kentucky native soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. According to the Department of Defense, Lance Cpl. Timothy M. Jackson, 22, of Corbin, Ky., died Sept. 30 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Funeral services for Lance Cpl. Jackson will be held on Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. Eastern time at Hart Funeral Home in Corbin, Ky. Burial services will follow at Wells Cemetery in Keavy, Ky. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day. Gov.
