Stay away from Mr. Transmission. They tried to tell me my transmission was fried and I took it to Aamco Transmission for a second opinon and Aamco replaced a seal for $150. That was way cheaper then the $2500 Mr. Transmission tried to steal out of my pocket. Good luck!

There were major tranny problems with this model year if I remember correctly...I would talk to some pros to see if rebuilding it does any good...or if there is a replacement tranny which is built better?? Good luck!

Tranny problems? Leave your personal life out of this Scott! Lol! You are correct, the 03 and 04 Explorers have sealed transmissions and they are troublematic.

Dave. I have an 03 that started doing the same thing. flushed the transmission helped for a little while. then I started looking for someone to rebuild it. Went to the BBB and found Blue Lick transmission. they rebuilt it for around 1600 bucks. I have since driven it well over a year with no problems. Hope this helps
