As my committeeman was walking away today he reminded me to file my unemployment for next week and that we would get holiday pay for the week after. All of the paperwork that we have received says that we file on January 3rd with a last work date of December 31st. Is this correct? It got me to thinking, how are we getting paid for December 20-23? I know that the UAW negotiated holiday begins December 24. Will we get short work week for that week since Friday is a holiday?

Who told you that? We were told short work week next week due to Friday being a paid holiday and holidays for the next week. Official last day of work is 12/31/10 is what we were told.

My committeeman told me we will get 8 hours Holiday pay for Saturday and 32 hours short work week for the rest. I believe that you mean 8 hours Holiday pay for Friday. Right? Either way, thanks to both of you for your quick reply. It is what I was hoping to hear and it makes a lot more sense. Not really sure what my committeeman was talking about.
