I think you dont have to accept anything less than present salary which is about 28 hourly. If anyone else has a clearer answer please respond.

I found out the easy way to go is to just get the yellow pages, call a business and ask if they are hiring, they will say "no" and just ask for their name and then write it down. It takes less than 5 minutes. If you are not that serious about finding a job, look for jobs you might not be qualified. I call mainly businesses such as glass repair, auto techs, and landscaping businesses. Landscaping business only hire Mexicans. **LOL** I've done this for almost year and half now and will continue to do so. I've filled out jobs online before, but it was too time consuming. I think calling works for those who want the "free money". It's not a good thing to do if you hate being around your wife/husband and/or family and need to get out of the the house and seriously need a job. I admit that sometimes I feel like a bum that I'm drawing the free money, but surprisingly most people in my cirlce of friends and family don't blame me not getting a job and just getting the "free money". I figured that I'd have to find a $15/hr job to get the same amount as my "free money" check is. I haven't found any $15/hr jobs out there for NON-SKILLED workers like me. I'm just happy Uncle Obama has taken care of me!! Now everybody's situation is different. This just works good for me.

Went to monster.com filled out an app for a forklift driver in another part of the state, the job pays 9.50/hr, all u have to do is make a simple reume with your name address phone #, work history (I only listed Ford) & the fact that u require a $28 an hour salary. You can upload this resume week after week to a different company. Took me about 15 minutes, next week I wont have to make the resume so it will take about 5 minutes.

When I went on ILO last year I filled out all online aps there and Louisvillehelpwanted.com and listed those on my UI form and no questions were ever asked.

Just an idea, If you are one of those people that get bored easily and are looking for something to do. There are a lot of non-profit agencies around our area. Hospitals, libraries, museums and parks that are always looking for help. The benefit to you is that it will keep your brain warm, keep your body moving, and if it's a true non-profit you can write off your travel and equipment expenses while helping them. Most of these places have perks associated with them, free tours, tickets to sporting events, t-shirts etc. Make some nice connections for your future. There are also benefits to volunteer with "For-Profit" companies like golf courses, they usually take on volunteers also, in trade for free greens fees through the year. Watch the paper for free classes offered by the city on photography, knitting, caligraphy, cooking and 50 other opportunities. Do stay mobile, my semi-retired friends...

I have a friend who was laid off from a different co. She just went to her 6 week meeting. The lady she met with told her, that new applicants have a 12 week grace period before having to apply for jobs. This gives your co. time to rehire you without you having to quit a job so quickly. The lady also told her the Unemp. office was going to start being much tougher on new applicants because of the great # of new people in the system. Any in put from the union on this would be appreciated. Before we waste our time applying right off the bat
