Do we have a 12 week grace period before we have to apply for work? A friend of mine was laid off and when she went to her 6 week meeting she was told this. Anyone from the union office have an answer? I would like to know before i waste some valuable laziness.

i also heard we may not have to go in for a review , but fill out the info of your job search and mail it in, every day a new rumor shows up on this UI, and i only filed a few days ago, guess we wait and see.

you have to apply for 1 job per week, beginning the FIRST week. the confusion id probably due to changes in how often the reviews occur. they used to be every 6 weeks, now they are every 12 weeks.

I looked online at Target.com, picked a store, and saw they didn't have any jobs available. I then called the store and asked if they were hiring and the lady said not for another month or two. I asked her name wrote it down and said thank you. Is this all I have to do??? That sounds easier then filling out an online app, or even an app. at the store.

Yeah, lapbrian, that's all you have to do. You need the phone number of the business called, too, and the date. When you go in for a review, you will be given a paper to put this information down. It will ask what type job you asked for and what the result is. I just put "any" and then "none" in those categories. It's so much easier to call than filling out an application online unless you are very serious about finding a job. However, personally, drawing the "free money" is much easier than finding a job. There might be some other person that might really need that job and you could also get hurt. Enjoy your time off. I have!!

The way I did it was to fill out a resume on careerbuilder and find jobs on there and submit the resume to the companys that were hiring. Once you fill out the resume it just takes a few clicks of the mouse to apply for a job and your done. I liked this because you could do this at any time day or night. When you go in for a review all you have to is Name of Company, how you applied (which would be internet/careerbuilder), date you applied, and contact number, and response (which would be no responce) I'm pretty sure the unemployment office doesn't check who you contact also. Thats what worked for me.
