My friend works at Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne Michigan. They re-tooled it during last year and it was up and "running" in early January. He works the "tow in" and "balancer" at the end of the line and they are just now receiving cars off the end of the line, albiet sporadically. Just wanted to give a little useless information to those of you who may want this info. Just my opinion, but just because they may have a start date for LAP's product(s) doen't mean that they'll be running at full steam. Please plan accordingly if you're a low person at LAP.

How much time was it between from when they walked out the door til they were "up & running"? Just curious since we are being told it will be Sept/Oct before we walk back in the doors.

You need to wash that nasty team leader word out of your mouth. No team concept at LAP

I had heard they should be running a few bodies in april through paint.. What does "running" mean, I'm not exactly sure. I would "assume" they are testing the equipment, ect... The tear out is going well and faster than expected in some areas.

ZJ, as a Quality Leader in paint I was told the same thing, I was just curious from MysteryJim as to how long it took MAP to be back in....Union metting today Stone said the robots are almost totally installed on the new Sealer line in Paint but Body, Trim, Chassis is still a ghost town.....My brother is working for one of the electrical company sub-contractors & according to him electrical work is ahead of schedule but the iron workers are behind schedule.

Well lappaintql, the best answer I can give you is that re-tooling at MAP is different then LAP will be. Wayne Assembly and Michigan Truck are on the same property and when Michigan Truck closed a few years ago, they started tear out then and had at least a year before the "new doors" would open. They still made the Focus at Wayne Assembly during the time MAP was being re-tooled. So, I belive that the re-tool at LAP will be faster.......time is money! Sorry it's not a straight answer but that's the best I can give ya!

How much time was it between from when they walked out the door til they were "up & running"? Just curious since we are being told it will be Sept/Oct before we walk back in the doors. The last piece of equipment bound for KY left MTP on Dec 19 2008, MTP was officially shut dn at that time. Jan & Feb 2009 the paint system was flushed out completely making way for new paint and solvent to be introduced to existing system. May 2009 tear out of Final assembly building began,.... July 2010 system try out starts with estimated Job 1 Jan 2011 ...Not sure if Job 1 is on horizon yet..... Hope this info helps P.S. Unless they have refined tooling install Dec 2011 maybe a little ambitious for start up....just my opinion original estimates for map were 18-22 months but heard there were skillet conveyor issues, conveyors were built in China, skillet conveyors carry unibody no more skids
