I read on a Kessinger Campaign Flyer that there is a proposal in for national negotiation to allow for local changes to the shift premium structure...
What exactly is the plan of use for this proposed power?
We already gave up double time from 23:00-00:00 every Monday #1 shift. What are we trying to give up next?

I don't have the answer on this one but the way that I am reading your question to Bryan's statement is that someone here put in a proposal to have the premium time adjust to be used in a better way for us. Not to screw us but I am interested in this as well. I am going to call him and ask that he answer this for everyone as soon as he can because now I am getting itchy to know the answer LOL.

Ty Brent for giving me the heads up that there were questions about this.
Ok, the proposal I put in was for an option by MUTUAL AGREEMENT to move back the start of the 10% shift premium (it is currently 7 pm) and or waive it for ceratin areas. I am told they did this at AAI moving it to 8 o'clock and it worked very well. The union loved it and it dried up their night shift AWOL problem so the company did to. This would allow us more flexability in scheduling. And again this should only be done if both the local union and plant management agree to it.
So if we could not come up with an agreement that would allow us to waive it for just the area needing it, like final production, without taking the 10% from areas that currently get it like body, stamping and trades then we just would not agree to it.
I WOULD NOT support just waving or changing the 10% shift premiums we have given up enough, on that we all agree. But many feel that they would gladly take a 5% shift premium and a 8 or 9 o'clock start time, that would be a benfit to us as a union not a loss. The current schedule in final is terrible for those that have kids or family.
I guess it was different years ago but the modern workforce seems to prefer a later start time. So if we had the ability to agree to a move then we could move the B-crew final start time back beyond 7. I think it would be a good thing for most people in those areas.
And if I am wrong about how people feel about this, please do let me know. Negotiations are months away and I can certainly ask them to pull that proposal if I am way off base here.
