Just curious is to why the job cuts in the paint department. And why people were told no one would be bumped out of paint because of the man power going back to lap.

Because they can do that. lol
Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually, they are given a goal every year to cut jobs.

Pickup sales fell dramatically in May, most experts predict a slow recovery, if they rebound at all. Ford does not want to have to offer year end incentives to move vehicles still on the lots.

They don't wanna offer incentives but we are workin overtime to build as many as possible. Makes perfect sense.

KTP is the only facility that makes the Super Duty, there are no other factories to supplement production. Ford has always used thier people and facilities to the maximum. I was at Collins Ford last week, they had 4 Super Duty pickups.

Yeah I kinda figured that was the deal but had to ask. But they do this every year and the cuts don't then they have to add the jobs back. Guess I just don't understand Ford logic lol

It's all on paper...they are ordered to get rid of 10% of the jobs...they do it, then replace 9.8% of them in the months after. As long as they met their initial goal, I guess they win. Get rid of 100 jobs, replace 98 of them.

I thought they ran Super Duty's in Mexico, also, or did they move all production to KTP?

I bet they plan on slowing the line down a bit.. They will def. not slow the line speed down in paint,we can't keep up now. All it takes is a little break down and we are done.

lowered,
The people leaving paint will be voluntary. As for job cuts Scott R is pretty much right except it it is not a percent, it is a dollar figure, they call the task. Since this plant spoke out against the concessions we have had the biggest task in the company last year and second biggest this year.
I would expect more of that, if we don't get some form of raises back we will probably be voting it down again.

They asked for volunteers to transfer and if they didn't get their numbers, then the bottom 3 would be forced to go. Has that changed?

gal, Yes that has changed for now. I think we are ok, though 2 may be temporarily loaned til we get people hired. We had to argue about it for awhile but we did not agree that they would force someone out of the department knowing full well they would have to have people back when the LAP transfers left in 2 months. So they agreed it would be a loan if they did take anyone for those last 2 spots.

Wow, paint gets a survey to leave and not force the lowest? Really?! I was forced out of body on April 4th, why wasn't the top people surveyed in body? All I ask is for consistency. Honestly if this is happening with paint then I and others in body got a nice big shaft. Wait a minute, I am just happy to have a job right?
2nd. I hope the people on who have been trying to get in to frame that have time over the paint volunteers avoid the "shaft". My rant and my feelings alone I am done. Got to get ready for P trim.
