2011 has been the summer of the NFL lockout and how "hard" these wealthy individuals on both side of the agreement are "suffering" during the off-season, over a surplus. Also, the NBA lockout is fast approaching and I am sure we will hear about the "suffering" of these wealthy individuals as well. A few of these players have sought to experience the workforce during their lockout and the media has magnified their efforts as being monumental for something that the UAW members experience daily on a 40 - 50 hour work week, 48 weeks a year compared to the 16 game season these players experience.
I believe that many UAW members contribute generously to the NFL and the NBA both directly (ticket sales, merchandise, tv packages, video games, etc...) and indirectly (taxes on new stadiums, affected by the crimes of these individuals).
What about the troubles and hardships the UAW workers face daily and have fought years ago to preserve a humble income and get no attention or merit for something they do 40 + hours a week as a minimum? Rather, as members of the UAW we are blacklisted among the media as greedy and undeserving while these athletes who sling a ball around for a few hours are hailed as demi-gods.
Will these professional leagues stand by the UAW when we are fighting for our rights and well being?
Will you continue supporting those individuals who do not support the UAW and workers rights?

Actually, I was just got off the phone with Chad Ochocinco and he was very in tune and concerned with the upcoming contract talks.
He gave me some good ideas if we do get "locked out"/strike:
-Try another career such as semi-professional soccer. -Get a reality TV series. -Use the money we got from previous signing bonuses to pay off our pied a terres, boats, Benzs, and to sell our naming rights to EA Sports. -And if all else fails...hit the gym hard and nonstop. We have to be ready for the next season to make good on that retirement contract we're gonna need.

Great post. It is sad the media/propaganda machine has vilified unions by convincing people that we are mobsters. The sad thing is that fellow union members that are devout tea party members are convinced that this is true. The power of propaganda is amazing.
I hope after the beating unions have taken recently that people will support those who support working americans with their votes and their dollars.
