Equality of Sacrifice Grievance Update
Letter from Jimmy Settles, Vice President and Director UAW National Ford Department:
To: Presidents and Building Chairpersons of all Local Unions under the jurisdiction of the National Ford Department
Greetings:
We reported at the last National Ford Council meeting that our financial analyst was reviewing information provided by the Company in response to our information request. Since that time, our financial analyst has had three meetings with the Company, the most recent being Tuesday, July 26, 2011.
I have also instructed our Legal Department to secure a firm date from the Arbitrator and Company for a hearing on this grievance. I will let you know as soon as i have the hearing date.
In Solidarity,
Jimmy Settles
Vice President and Director
UAW National Ford Department

This is the part we won't see in that email:
To: Presidents and Building Chairpersons of all Local Unions under the jurisdiction of the National Ford Department
Presidents and Building chairpersons i can't stress enough how important it is to hold the membership off untill we can get this grievence included in on contract negotiatons. Once that happens we have them HOOK LINE AND SINKER! Not untill then can we stuff our pockets with money!
(please delete the above part before posting to your locals)

So what was the outcome of the most recent meeting? If he wants to update the membership then give a little of the meat and potatoes. That would be a good question for him when he arrives.

Im tired of hearing about this. The first hand out we got about this, Settles was all puffed up and giving the hard ass routine about how we would have this settled before contract, blah blah blah. With each passing month its been pushed back with excuses and finger pointing. Now hes coming to the plant on Mon. to feel us out. Per Kess, Ill be respectfull if I see the man, but Im tired of hearing all of these hollow promises and bullshit tough guy routines. This isnt 1970, we arent kept in the dark anymore, we have access to info at unprecedented rates, so its put up or shut up time. Without all returned concessions, and raises, its a no from me. That simple. Keep your stupid ugly ass POS jackets, Ive already tossed mine, and keep your sign on bonus. I dont want to go into this contract knowing that I will not have had a raise in 10 years by the close of the contract. Why havent we had a strike vote yet? Kessinger?? Brent??

Copied over from the LAP rumor mill: I got to ask an IUAW rep a few questions last week he really did answer anything but one thing that stuck out was when I ask about there being any possibility of a strike if we keep turning down these Sorry ass agreements that are on the way? “If we don’t agree with the IUAW they could\will have Ford workers operate under the old contract for the next 4 years, they will not under any circumstances call or authorize a strike no matter what.” As for the Grievance issue look for that ruling by the end of august. It really shouldn’t be called a ruling as the UAW and Ford are working on a deal I hear we will get something like $600 and their wont be any vote options, where stuck with it like it or not. With all that said we must not accept an agreement that gives us no raise for the last 10 years. Vote NO!! If any of this is true, "If we don’t agree with the IUAW they could\will have Ford workers operate under the old contract for the next 4 years, they will not under any circumstances call or authorize a strike no matter what.” We should still get to vote, so vote for the old contract(one we currently have) for the next four years, no changes?! NO VOTE If they say we cant vote on it...?! Someone from the union post up what they can and cant do please.
