This is a clear cut case of the Democrats hating the union. Consider a quote from the Leftist news organization MSNBC.
But his House counterpart, Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., ruled out that possibility. The only way left to end the shutdown is for the Senate to agree to a previously passed House bill containing $16.5 million cuts in air service subsidies to 13 rural communities that some Democrats — particularly Rockefeller — find objectionable.
"The only one holding this up now is Mr. Rockefeller," Mica said. One of the 13 communities that would lose subsidies is Morgantown, W.Va.
Sen. Rockefeller, is the person holding up the works. He looks like an obstructionist to me.

Marcus the Republicans are attempting to add a piece of legislation that will make it harder to form unions in this industry. The other option is to shut parts of the faa down, putting people out of work, which has already happened. Either way Democrats are force to choose. Option 1 is to not renew the legislation which will directly hurt working Americans by costing them their jobs ( and also risk a lapse in security for passengers). Option 2 would make it more difficult for workers to earn fair wages and benefits.
The Republicans are forcing democrats to choose in what way Americans will be hurt, not if but how. Either way Americans are harmed; Republicans rollout the propaganda machine to start claiming Democrats are anti-American obstructionists. This is a Win-Win for conservatives.
And another perfect example of why the U.S political system needs major reform, politicians playing games, and Americans being harmed.
About what has harmed us most, the Taft Hartley Act worked similar to the way nafta did. Instead of international borders, it created states that were unfriendly to unions. The Act was a major blow to union influence in Washington over the long run. I know nafta was a major blow also. What is gatt, I have never heard of it.

General Agreement on Trade & Tariffs is Gatt.Just the sound of more jobs leaving the usa.Im sick of BOTH partys hurting us. Last couple of years has been all the Dems they had complete control and did nothing to help us on Nafta or Gatt. They still have control to do just about anything they want.
Trade has to be fixed.
