My God, this election cycle is like none I've ever seen.
I knew something was up when the Reaganites went on the airwaves after Romney's response to the attack on the Libyan consulate with a "WTH"? Jesus, even Kristol was speechless.
Lawrence Korb's eyes practically popped out of his head when discussing this. (Look the man up, esp. his role in the Reagan admin.)
Now they're sharpening knives for the campaign staff, Stu Stevens is going to become persona-no-grata if he isn't already. Peggy Noonan's column in the WSJ is a must read.
And the biggest part of this? The movement in the polls in the down-ballot races. I've NEVER seen anything like this, ESPECIALLY when you consider the spending situation for the two campaigns plus the outside money.
You actually have candidates in NC and elsewhere, who had the lead distancing themselves from something the nominee said, and then tried to defend.. That's unheard of. GOP Senators refused to even take questions today, the internal polling must be brutal.
It's FASCINATING to watch.
I know the GOP money has been moving around (out of Wisc. and Penn, and more into Virginia and NC) but the dynamics of this thing has been just mind boggling me.
