thanks for the link. i disagree with the hosts, i believe labor unions are very capitalistic. together, we can collectively bargain for better wages and benefits than we would be able to procure on our own. with that said. union leadership is extremely liberal, bashes republicans at every chance, and gives all their money to dems. we kind of contribute towards making enemies for no reason.

Well, considering the Chamber of Commerce and MANY other corporate entities spend hundreds of millions on lobbying and PAC money and election ads to elect Republicans who promise to "restrict" (destroy) unions, I'd say we aren't making enemies per se.
Some of the biggest power brokers within the GOP (hell, just the CoC ALONE) have done and will do everything they can to totally eliminate the union movement in this country, and they're bragging about it as they do it.

Get it in your heads, it's over boys and girls. And there is blame to be handed out all the way around. But this latest round of blame falls squarely on the unions back. They made a power play for obamacare, republicans and moderates resisted, the left hedged their bet, forced the issue, and voters reacted. R's gained control in D strongholds, and as I'm told, elections have consequences, and the R's with new found power and stroke forged ahead with their agenda. Add in the fact that for years unions have alienated their own, be it two tier wages, opening contracts up, appointing dipshit realatives that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground to jobs for life, and you get disgruntled rank and file. Now, staring down the barrel of RTW, the unions have the opportunity to sell themselves and prove their value, but all they want to do is waste dues money on fruitless protests, and blame politicians for laws, they dared them to pass. Buckle up, it's going to get bumpy.

Unions seem to be doing a fine job of busting themselves.

Try a little basic math sometime.... Union membership as a whole is likely around 10% That in itself means 90% of the workforce does NOT see or share your views . Unions dues and a ton of money has been greasing a lot of palms in the political realm on both sides of the aisle. They all do it and its not exclusive of any one political party no matter what you like to believe. The UAW has only its own members to fear if states give those members a choice to continue paying dues or opt out.
