When making a check payment, follow the guidelines below:
•Your check should be made payable to the “United States Treasury”. •The check should be accompanied by the annual tax return and statement of payment – Form-1040-V. •On the check, provide clear details of your full name, valid address, telephone number(s) where you are contactable during the day, your social security number and the filing year and form number in the format “ XXXX Form 1040” where XXXX is the year of filing. •Fill the same details in the designated fields on Form-1040 as well. •Use the format “$XXX.XX” for entering the amount in figures in the designated box. For example, $100.00 - do not use any other formats or symbols in this box. •Enclose the three documents: the check, Form-1040 and your tax return – in the pre-addressed envelope provided, without stapling or pinning the documents together. •Mail the envelope as per directions provided in your tax pack for that year.
Writing a check to the IRS is simple and easy. Just make sure you follow the instructions provided and that the information provided is accurate, clear and legible.

..now for the irony that has emerged from the bowels of the tax fight .... Democrats have fallen in love with the Bush tax cuts, which they fought tooth and nail to block in 2001 and 2003.
While the Democrats are demanding that we raise taxes on the rich, they are stridently demanding that we extend the Bush tax cuts for the rest of American taxpayers (or non-taxpayers). The irony is that Democrats spent several years during the Bush years protesting how the Bush tax cuts were nothing but handouts for the rich. Now, they are correctly asserting that if we don’t extend the Bush tax cuts, low and middle income earners will be severely hit. Woops!

great points. maybe thats something a liberal on here could get explain to me. for a decade, the democrats told us the bush tax cuts only benefited the rich. now, they tell us if the bush tax cuts expire it will crush the middle class. makes no sense!!! in fact, its almost laughable...if it weren't so sad. you see, the left believes that all of their lies are justified, so long as they get the end result that they are looking for.
