Until the automakers can extend the range of EV's to that of gasoline engines, they will never be a viable option in America.(Battery technology is still in it's infancy) We are a commuter society with a vast nation.
If I cannot take a vacation to a state in a car without stopping to charge it every night(For over 8 hours) after only 100- 300 miles, I would never consider the purchase or lease.
It looks like many others share the same sentiment.

Had an engineer in KC tell me that the hybrid escape that was being built there was basically a "throw away vehicle" because when the battery dies,the cost to replace it (battery) would cost more than the vehicle would be worth,according to him battery would last about 7 years on average.
