My name is Brandon Finnell. I have been a UAW member for 16 years. I grew up with a union family and with a management point is of view also. My grandfather was Owen Hammons. For those that don't know, the KTP union hall is named for him. My father, Jim Finnell retired as a quality manager . So you can see I have had a perspective from both sides of the fence.
First off, for any union member that thinks the right to work is the way to go, you need to wake up. No matter how fed up you are with the UAW, workers need protection. Right to work will kill protection, for all workers. Not just union shops.
Second, and this is for Bob King. Yes membership has decreased over the years. Yes organizing new manufacturers is a right direction to go. There is just one problem. You and the executive board need to focus on who you already have, before you try to bring in more. I do not speak for anyone but myself when I say this. On the floor I do not feel solidarity. I do not feel unified. We don't can't even agree with our local leadership on a local contract. Bob King, you must first unify your current membership. Then WE. Together. Can spread the message of solidarity.

Notice he says that "right to work" will cause turmoil in workplace because some pay and some don't and he's blaming that on the politicians, what does he think that 2ND tier workforce will do that HE agreed to is going to do?
