The president is going to try and pretend that his enemy on this is Republicans.....but Mr. president, sequester was your idea...
It's striking to me that the WH has openly adopted a strategy under which they "forego serious negotiations" and in there place they substitute a "shame offensive" and that it is reported in such a matter of fact fashion, as if it were a legitimate way to do business .
To be fair, this type of thing isn't unique to the Obama WH. This is a tried and true technique of the left that's been around for decades.... rather than sit down and discuss the reality of the fiscal situation, and deal with the hard facts, you instead conjure up images of evil robber barons pushing old ladies over cliffs in their wheel chairs and hungry kids being forced to forego their government funded school lunch.
No doubt this "shame offensive" will come complete with Obama surrounding himself with small children and old ladies at every opportunity to drive home the point that any spending cuts, especially sequestration, will devastate "the children" and "our seniors", etc. As usual with the left it will be totally substance free and be designed to play on the emotions of the dependent and mentally weak among us who largely make up Obama's constituency. The fact that we wouldn't be facing a sequestration if the Democratic left had any willingness to seriously discuss spending cuts without one will get totally avoided in any discussion of what's going on. That's by design..... since the numbers don't lie, and our fiscal situation is what it is, the only argument remaining for the left is the emotional one based on their perception of "fairness" which will include the usual boring and meaningless argument about how everything will be OK if the "rich" just agree to pay a little more, aka "their fair share" Because, you see, we don't really have a spending problem. the left won't admit that we do in a trial of a thousand years. To do so would undercut everything these people have been preaching for the last 100 years, even if our situation makes it pretty clear that following their path hasn't exactly worked out to well.
Who knows, with the current state of the country and the number of people who have become perpetually dependent on government "programs" for their existence, and the lack of people who can still think critically and thus form their opinions based on reason, as opposed to child like emotion, Obama and the left may very well win the politics on this. At the end of the day though it's not going to matter. Being a perpetual campaigner for continued fiscal insanity doesn't change the facts of the fiscal situation that we're in and it doesn't constitute substantive policy of any kind. Even if he can convince a bunch of imbeciles(RCLR) to go along with him, and the GOP caves under the political pressure, we'll still be in the same fucking place, which is headed for the fiscal abyss. REALITY!
