I am lucky enough to have an interview for an electrician position this Thursday, 7/25. Does anyone know how many they are going to be hiring? Thanks in advance for any info.

The posting says "a small number" that could mean as little as one. I would say the actual number hired will be less than needed, that's just the Ford/ Corporate way. The info your seeking may not even be known at the KTP plant level, Detroit makes decisions. This Forum is just what it states, a "Rumor Mill" a lot of what is posted here is just pure speculation, and/or out right BS... Good luck on your interview.

I am being told by one of the guys interviewing that they are slated to hire 8 electricians this go around and more to come and if they get more then 8 qualified candidates from the 50 they are interviewing this week they will add them to the list and bring them on as needed.

Here is some info/rumor I gathered from my interview. They said they weren't sure how many were going to be hired but they had heard 8, 10, or 12. They also said that the initial 8 or whatever were immediate need and would be working by the end of August, with more to be hired after the stacker is completed, and more yet when another line(?) is put in, and they have a bunch of guys close to retiring. So all in all they said there were going to be lots of opportunities in the coming months. For what it's worth.

Actually, I have heard a few things: 1. I heard that 2 people didn't show up, or quit...not sure if this is rumor or fact, but not having a defined pension plan and using a national ppo for healthcare for new hires seems to make this place much more average and much less exceptional. 2. The UAW newsletter stated that 6 started early in September and 2 more will be added in late September. 3. I heard from one of the interviewing supervisors that the company has 19 more in the queue to hire after these 8 are processed onto the plant floor. 4. This supervisor also said that the 19 in the queue were the only ones who made it through the new STAR interview process.
As a reference for anyone unfamiliar with the STAR interview process:
Situation: Briefly set up the situation by describing the context of your example (who, what, where, when, how). Task: Explain the task you had to complete, or the problem you had to solve. Action: Describe the actions you took to complete the task or solve the problem. Result: Close by explaining the result of your efforts. Quantify that outcome if possible. (Examples: how much you helped raise fundraising, how many kids you tutored, how many people you helped to train, etc.)

There are some Electricians at Woodhaven Stamping who would like the opportunity to follow the work they will be losing to KTP, DSP and KCAP. We were told that we are supposed to but plant manager wont release anyone yet because new launch has been pushed back at least six weeks.
