Is no news regarding the AWS good news. Or is the pre ordained news just being put off?

I have heard from several sources that we are going to the AWS and all this is for posture and they are holding out as long as possible to avoid hearing all the backlash leading up to the Jan. changeover. I look for the word to come down in late Nov or early Dec and then with the Holidays going on most won't bitch as much and that gives them time to let everyone select shifts and make it look like they put up one hell of a fight.
That being said I wish either way they would get the word out so we can start planning on which shitty shift we are going on.

It is signed, sealed, and delivered. The company already has the deal they want - 24/7 coverage with minimal OT - and they don't care if we like it or not. KTP and LAP recently traded assistant plant managers, the guy from LAP having overseen the rollout of AWS at LAP. It's a done deal.

Yes, AWS has been implemented at MAP, KCA, and LAP, and Ford will have it at KTP... why wouldn't they?

Can someone from the union please give skilled trades an update as to what KTP is doing? There are people who will have to make special arrangements to make this work with their families. We had a meeting nearly 5 months ago and since then we have not been told anything. We only here RUMORS. You could at least give the trades some kind of update from time to time. This is one big issue I have with this union...everything is a secret!

^^^^^ Good luck with that request. It's always a big secret around here. The rank and file cannot be trusted with info reguarding there future. Only union officials are privy to that info. Everyone else must wait until the last possible second so the bitching about getting drilled is held to a minimum!

To any skilled trades out there who are currently not on this schedule (KTP). I am at LAP for 13 years, this schedule is awesome. They had to hire more people to make this work. There are a few people out there who don't like this.I was dredding the AWS , now I would hate to go back. With my time off I have more of a life now than I ever had. I am off 5 days in a row every other week. I rarely get that off because of all the OT needed. They have to cover for vacations, project work, etc. There are fewer people per crew, but there is an extra crew now. Being there are fewer people per crew they can,t get by without covering people who are off. Pro's 1) If you don't want any OT then you only work 180 days a year vs 360 minus holidays and vacation.(14 days per month) less driving to work 2) I have made way more on this schedule than on the traditional schedule. 3) OT is factored in everyday. 4) There are more chances to work OT than ever 5)Made more money this year vs last year on 7 12 hr days. 6) More time for golf and fishing or whatever. 7) A crew only has to burn 24 hours to get 9 days off C crew has to burn 36 hours to be off 10 days...........pretty sweet....great for vacations, motor cycle runs, 8) If you go to lake on weekends just have to burn a day every other week all summer long, who goes every weekend any way...crappy weather etc. 9) Base pay for A and C crew is $88398.18 10) If you are on A or C crew you get 12.5% shift premium......day shift gets 2.5%. You get a raise right off the bat. CONS Hope this helps all who are unsure. It is GRRRRRREEEEAAAT

Skilled Trades meeting on Wed...votes have to be in by Thursday. Membership decides which of the two shifts we go to.
Option #1-The alternate D/E with the 11a or 11p start with traditional staying in final
Option #2-Aws in paint, body and stamping and traditional in final and central
Option #2 much better in my opinion...vote in our hands now so hope everyone gets to the meeting.

A few questions. What time are the meetings, how will they deal with area rolls that will be caused by different patterns in the areas and how will the overtime be affected? Guess it will be a long meeting. Thankful for any answers as I am on vacation.

A letter will be out tomorrow...detailing the schedules and the meeting times on Wed...they will allow rolls but my understanding is they will adhere to the in place rules on limits of rolls. Overtime will be as it is now....area ot during production and compression time to master list. I don't have all the answers but we will get them on wed. Good Luck

Saw in union meeting notes that the plant has put in a request for 60 electricians, must be a reason, only reason I can see is aws. Gonna need bodies running 2 paint, body shops.
