Here we go, Dues increase to 2 1/2 hours per month. This was a scam from the start. Was reading that people speaking against it was being heckled by the floor. I refuse to believe there's that many dumb mfers out there. I am not bashing our guys but would love to see how each person voted. Well fu$&ed again no raises for 10 years and a dues increase.

If we actually got to vote on it. Only half would bother to vote anyway. It is embarrassing once again that we only had about half of the membership vote in the past elections. We wonder why we don't get a say in issues that affect us, because we can't even take the time to elect local leadership let alone vote on a national level.

I guess you may have a point, but I vote every time and have for 19+ years so I can bitch about all this shit. But people do need to take a interest in our elections.

Dues haven't been raised since 1967...

I wouldn't have a problem raising the dues if it was for the right reason...but when we have to make changes in regards to tough times, yet international doesn't follow, then I have an issue. When they don't accept the same insurance or contract that they negotiate for us...I have a problem. When we claim to want to raise the dues to replenish the strike fund that went from 1 billion to 500 million and we have not had a strike since the 70's...I have a problem. These funds should not have been used to try and organize. As far as the comment that Dues has not been raised since 1967...that's incorrect as the union always got a raise when we did. Now that they have not negotiated us a raise in 10 years they must raise dues...and the fact that they agree to two-tier employees also reduces what comes in monthly. Want to raise dues, get us a raise and bring the two-tier up...it's that simple. I have no issue with dues increase as the UAW has been good to me for over 25 years...but not the way this union is currently on a spending spree.

Dues haven't been raised since 1967... They're being raised to replenish the strike fund which was depleted to fund 9 losing Union organizing elections in the South. What a crock! I also get tired of hearing how the faithful shout down those who are speaking! Use your parlimentary rules and treat those with a voice with dignity, then take your vote.

The basic formula for our dues hasn't changed since 1967, that's all I implied... Don't read more into my post than that.

I never defended any dues increase Anal, I just can't believe the basic formula hasn't changed over all these years... Again, in 1967 a UAW worker only made less than $5 PER HOUR. Figure the math from there, its not that hard. And only because the UAW worker got a raise at that time! We didn't get shit!! And haven't got shit for 8 years now.

I DON'T LIKE IT EITHER! In 1967 there were over a million UAW members also, in those days we were a very powerful organization...

Whatever the f u$% they want to ... Right to work sounds great at this point. Their too tied in with the company's interest to worry about us piss ons.. RIDICULOUS . First off, the increase is a truck load of shit. By the end of this contract, the rank and file represented by the uaw at ford, will have gone over a decade without a raise. Meanwhile, the members sitting at the IUAW level have received all but 1, of their scheduled raises in that same time frame. The IUAW has saw fit to use dues generated funds to stump for politicians, back failed anti-rtw legislation, and fail horribly at attempting to organize foreign owned manufacturers. Add into this equation, the onset of union negotiated 2 tier wage scales, the result is ever dwindling uaw strike fund coffers. Without hourly raises, the strike fund receives no raises. Simple math. And now, the IUAW says, we have to raise dues to be able to organize the transplants. Ummm, you couldnt sell the VW workers on giving up 2hrs of pay per month, you think they'll reconsider at 2.5hrs per? Are you fucking stupid? We have been sold so much BS by King and his minions. I applaud all those that stood up on the conference floor and opposed this increase. To any that backed it, eat shit.

They say dues increase needed to increase strike fund....this coming from same group of individuals that ask us to give up the right to go on strike. Classic stuff...cant make this stuff up.

Dues haven't been raised since 1967... Arent they raised when we get a raise? Sounds like fair way to do it. More cash I make, more cash they get.

Exactly we will not get a raise next contract so they're going ahead and raising them now.Theyll offer bigger (2000 instead of 1500) bonuses and the people will vote yes and that will be it.!!!I bet we don't get shit !!!

This shit is too funny...we are being led by sell outs and idiots...gotta remember what it takes to get a job at Ford...these same ppl are filing the IUAW positions. I read an article today...since the raise passed, they are immediately taking $25 million from the strike fund to do whatever the fuck they choose to...Michigan workers will be opting out in record numbers as soon as they can...and the union should get all the blame.

Till two tier is gone(forget the pensions for entry levels they are gone) apathy will run rampant among those who will be running the union in 15 years.

Entry level knew exactly what they were getting before they worked one day on the floor of Ford Motor Company. Sorry but Im not sorry for entry level about this. Its like you knew you would get the shits BEFORE you ate a greasy burrito.

I'm an entry level and yes I knew what I was getting into but only because I have family that works here. When I came in for my 3 day orientation nothing was mentioned to us about pay or pension. They briefly mentioned 401K. I will be here 3yrs in November and not a week goes by that I don't run into a new hire and low and behold they have no idea they won't be getting a pension. I believe our union should be giving new hires all the info they need.

I'm curious to know why nobody thought to ask about their pay & pension during their 3 day orientation. Those were the first and foremost questions asked during our orientation class way back in 2000.

I know that's harsh but I don't believe for one minute that you and the rest of the 2nd teir knew nothing of your wages. After all every news channel from here to Detroit talked about your pay for months.

If I am starting a new job the pay and pension is my first question on day one. If I don't like the benefit the first day or 3 years later... I hit the bricks.

You seriously want people to believe you didn't know what your pay & benefits would be before you hired in. Really?

People get serious. Please read then comment. I simply said "they didn't mention it" I did not say no one in the class asked. I already knew which is why I didn't need to ask but figured they would be kind enough to inform us without having to ask.
