53% to 47% isn't a landslide vote. If politicians had not threatened the VW people with lie after lie I'd be willing to bet VW would now be unionized. And VW has made it clear they have no problem with the UAW. IMO, if Tennessee isn't careful they're gonna screw around and lose VW or possibly any future VW products. I hope VW shuts down that Tenn. plant and moves up north.

VW wants and NEEDS a union in that plant, the UAW wants in that plant but the worker do not want the UAW in the plant. The real question is it just the UAW or all unions the workers oppose ?

Simple it's the UAW they don't want and who the hell can blame then on that....a bunch of grab what they can for themselves assholes who don't listen or care what it's own members want....To them we are children unable to figure out what we want or need. Anyone who says different is either delusional or they want to be part of the chosen few. I have had enough of paying to be screwed in the ass by the powers to be..There will be a wake up call coming for this bunch and by then it will be too late for the union to survive it's called RTW... piss and moan all you want but it's coming to a state near you. The UAW and the Teamsters have done as much as they can to kill organized labor to fill their own pockets and the day of reckoning is coming.

No doubt corker is a douche.I don't always agree with the decisions of the international UAW but we all know that if we were bargaining individually with ford or any other automaker,we couldn't get the wages and benefits we have through collective bargaining.I am from Tennessee and the workers in east TN. are afraid of losing what they already have. Fear is what corker used against these workers to keep them from organizing. He and the governor should be run out of office for this.Sometimes it is hard to get people to see the long view.

Maybe / maybe not, it depends on your skill set and job task. No matter who or what we all do it has an assigned pay range compared to national and local averages. Once that wage is exceed cost cutting measures go into effect be it automation , combining jobs or outsourcing. Ford pays all of us and NOT the UAW, we actually pay them. I have a friend that works at Honda in Ohio. He is skilled labor and they treat him well and his actual wage & benefit package is better than mine being skilled at Ford. Non-union to boot so go figure. He drives super duty F250's and gets a Honda paycheck, smart guy.

Its called a prevailing wage. His pay scale was helped by collective bargining so beleive it or not the union still has and effect even on shops that are not union.
