We have gotten the company to agree to convert 175 of the 336 Long Term Supplemental employees we have at KTP to Entry Level status. Per the Master Agreement these positions had to be posted throughout the Ford system first. The posting went up on October 8, 2014, and closed on October 11, 2014, which resulted in no one wanting to transfer to KTP.
•
We have also gotten the company to agree to extend the dates of the remaining LTS employees to January 11, 2015. They had been scheduled for their last day on November 2, 2014. This will allow them to receive all their holiday pay including January 1 and 2, 2014.
•
Since 1999 we built the 5-millionth Super Duty at KTP on October 7, 2014, at 11:30am. I want to personally thank everyone that has contributed to this great accomplishment over the years.
•
Representatives of the International Union will be down to visit each hall in November. There will be a town hall meeting at each hall that will allow members to directly talk and ask questions to the representatives of the International
Union. These meetings are for Local 862 members only. Once the times and dates have been established we will communicate it to the membership.
•
Local 862 Vice President Alfonzo Cash has been offered and accepted a position with the National Ford Department of the International Union. It is very important for our local to have its members in these positions. I want to thank Alfonzo for all his hard work and dedication to the local union and its membership. You will be missed very much by us.
•
The company has submitted names to the AON Company to be tested to help create a hiring pool for possible future hiring. The testing should be done in four sets in January 2015.
•
We have 13 new apprentices starting on November 17, 2014, which will be their Date of Entry for skilled trades. The apprentices are as follows: 9 electricians; 2 millwrights and 2 pipefitters. This group took 5 apprentices off the old list and 8 off the list that just tested in May 2014.
