President Weekly Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 135, December 5, 2014
Reminder To all Entry Level employees with Wage Works HRA cards - Any balance
currently remaining on your card must be used by December 31, 2014. Your balance
will be reset on January 1, 2015 and any unused balance from 2014 will not carry
over. You do however have until March 31, 2015 to submit claims for any
services obtained in 2014.
LAP LETTERS TO THE TROOPS - This past weekend the UAW/Ford sponsored “Letters
to our Troops” in the Santa Workshop as a part of Light Up Louisville. We have
transported the “Letters to our Troops” mailbox to our plant and we are now
asking our employees to take five minutes to write a quick note to those serving
our country. All cards will be mailed to our troops in Afghanistan next week.
The mailbox is located in our main cafeteria and cards are provided. However,
you can also provide your own. If you have any family members, friends our
groups that may be interested in writing letters, please encourage them to
participate. All cards/letters must be turned in no later than Sunday December
7th.
UAW LOCAL 862 30th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BOWLING TOURNAMENT – This annual event
will be held at Strikes & Spares located at 6220 Old Shepherdsville Rd. The Team
Event will be Monday, Dec. 29th at 9:30am and the Singles & Doubles will be
Tuesday, December 30th at 9:30am. It is only $22.00 per person for each event.
There will also be an “Actual All Events” available for $3.00 each. Due to
lane availability, only the first 24 teams will be accepted. Entry forms may be
picked up at either union hall, the in-plant union offices or through your
committeepersons. Please submit completed entry forms and money order, or
cash, to UAW Local 862 and turn into either Local 862 Union Hall.
UAW REGION 8 & LABOR NIGHT IN SMASHVILLE - The Nashville Predators and
Bridgestone Arena are pleased to welcome and recognize all members, friends, and
family of UAW Region 8 as well as area Labor Council members with the
exciting one-of-a-kind NHL experience known as Smashville! Join us as the
Nashville Predators vs. St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 7:00pm.
Customized Discounts including all-you-can-eat and drink options, Megatron
recognition, and email or will-call ticket delivery options. There will be an
Attendance Competition with prizes going to the local with the highest

National Ford and Sub-Council - Your Local 862 Elected Leadership Delegates will
be attending the National Ford and Sub-Council Meetings next week on behalf of
UAW Local 862. Amanda Goins, UAW 862 Recording Secretary, will be on a UAW 862

night of comedy on Sunday December 14th and monthly thereafter. Doors open at
7:00pm and the show begins at 8:00pm. Advance tickets are 2 for $25 (normally
$15 each or $20 day of show) and can be purchased. Discount does not apply the

UAW Local 862 Valentine’s Dance – It will be held Saturday, February 14,
2015 from 9:00pm – 1:00am at the LAP Union Hall located at 3000 Fern Valley
Road. The cost is $20 per person which will include free beer, free setups,
BYOB. It is open to the public and the doors will open at 8:00pm. The Lyndsey
Henken Band will be performing. This is a fundraiser for the UAW “40 & Over”
