UAW Local 862 Elections – Local 862 elections will be held January 29, through January 31, 2015. Polls open at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 & polls close at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Fern Valley Road Union Hall and the Chamberlain Lane Union Hall (please vote at your respective hall). Please refer to the “Election Notice” that will be distributed throughout the plants for nominated members and positions. If you do not have proper identification, you will not be permitted to vote.
43rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Motorcade - Dr. King will be remembered with a motorcade and rally that is scheduled January 19, 2015 at 12:00pm. Participants will “Line-up” at 10am, and move out at 11am, from the post office parking lot across from the Kroger and McDonald’s at 28th and Broadway then proceed West on Broadway to 34th St. The end of the route will be the King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church at 1620 Rev. Charles Elliott Jr. Way.
KTP Blood Drive - Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and Friday, January 30, 2015. You MUST bring your picture ID when you give blood. There will be two locations on Wednesday, January 28:
The times are from 7am to 1pm #2 shift and A Crew and from 5pm to 11pm #3 shift and B Crew
· Administration Building – Old Cafeteria
· Bloodmobile Bus- Located outside in front of Door 104 at Pre-delivery
There will be one location on Friday, January 30:
· Bloodmobile Bus- Located outside in front of Door 104 at Pre-delivery. The time is 7am to 1pm C Crew and #2 shift
Scholastic Achievement for Education (SAFE) Scholarships - The Kentucky Safety and Health Network (KSHN) recently announced that approximately $40,000 worth of scholarship awards will be accessible to Kentucky undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a degree program for occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene or a related field. Applications for the Scholastic Achievement for Education (SAFE) awards must be submitted by Feb. 28. For full information and an application on the scholarships and KSHN, visit www.kshn.net.
UAW 862 BOWLING CLASSIC benefitting Junior Achievement – This event will be held Saturday February 28, 2015 starting at 6:00pm at the Fern Valley Strike and Spare at 6220 Shepherdsville Rd. Individual Registration is $50 per person, fill a lane with 5 bowlers for $200, 9-pin no-tap league style. Registration and event information can be obtained by visiting 2015uaw862bowl.kintera.org. Junior Achievement provides young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA programs empower students to make a connection between what they learn in school and how it can be applied in the real world-enhancing the relevance of their classroom learning and increasing their understanding of the value of staying in school. Over 60,000 students served annually with the programs.
