2015 Owen C. Hammons Scholarship - UAW Local 862 initiated the Owen C. Hammons Scholarship Fund in 1988. Annually, Local 862 awards three, $2,000.00 scholarships to the sons, daughters, stepsons, or stepdaughters of UAW Local 862 members. Applicants must be a high school senior and must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college or university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued. Awards must be used for the 2015-2016 school year.
Scholarship applications are submitted to the Scholarship Committee which is comprised of impartial post-secondary educators from the University of Louisville, and Indiana University. The committee will review and award three recipients with the Owen C. Hammons Scholarship. All decisions of the committee will be final. No member of UAW Local 862 will be affiliated with the scholarship review and award process.
To obtain application requirements, and/or an application, contact the Financial Secretary, Scott Edwards, at the Fern Valley Road Union Hall (502) 969-9136, or President Todd Dunn, at the Chamberlain Lane Union Hall (241-9491), or one of the Building Chairpersons, Barry Ford, LAP, or Scott Eskridge, KTP, or pick up an application at either union hall, or visit uaw862.org to view and print all information.
2015 Raffle for Super Bowl tickets – Get in on your chance to win 2 tickets to the 2015 Super Bowl (value $2500 each) along with $1000 cash. Representatives at KTP and LAP will be walking areas within the plants selling raffle tickets. Drawing for this once in a lifetime opportunity will be held January 26, 2015 at KTP. The tickets are $10 each and proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the National Child Identification Program. There were only 8000 tickets printed. You do not need to be present to win.
UAW Local 862 Elections – Local 862 elections will be held January 29, through January 31, 2015. Polls open at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 & polls close at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Fern Valley Road Union Hall and the Chamberlain Lane Union Hall (please vote at your respective hall). Please refer to the “Election Notices” that have been distributed throughout the plants for nominated members and positions. If you do not have proper identification, you will not be permitted to vote.
2015 UAW Vehicle Guide – The 2015 UAW Vehicle Guide is out and available on uaw862.org. It contains a list of vehicles that are made in the United States or Canada by members of the UAW and Canada’s Unifor union, formerly the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW). Because of the integration of United States and Canadian vehicle productions, all the vehicles listed that are made in Canada include significant UAW-made content and support the jobs of UAW members. Not all vehicles made in the United States or Canada are built by union-represented workers. Vehicles not on the list, even if produced in the United States or Canada, are not union made.

Dental Insurance Change - Effective 1/1/15 all active employees who had BC/BS Dental have been transferred to Delta Dental of Michigan. You should have already received your new cards and a letter from NESC explaining the details. If for some reason you did not please call contact Delta at (844)223-8520 for replacements.
KTP Blood Drive - Wednesday, January 28, 2015 and Friday, January 30, 2015. You MUST bring your picture ID when you give blood. There will be two locations on Wednesday, January 28:
· Administration Building – Old Cafeteria
· Bloodmobile Bus- Located outside in front of Door 104 at Pre-delivery
The times are from 7am to 1pm #2 shift and A Crew and from 5pm to 11pm #3 shift and B Crew
There will also be one location on Friday, January 30:
· Bloodmobile Bus- Located outside in front of Door 104 at Pre-delivery. The time is 7am to 1pm C Crew and #2 shift
