Military OneSource No-Cost OnLINE Tax filing – The Military OneSource no-cost online tax preparation and filing service launched January 13, 2015. This is for active,
National Guard, and reserve units. If you are eligible under the Military OneSource program, you can complete, save and file your 2014 Federal, and up to three state returns online at no cost with a custom H&R Block tool made available through the Military OneSource website. You must start your return from the Military OneSource online at the www.militaryonesource.mil tax filing link to access this no-cost offer and check for eligibility. If you have questions about this tax service call 800-342-9647 and ask to speak with a Military OneSource tax counselor. Trained tax counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 10pm (ET) year-round, and with extended hours from now – April 15th; seven days a week from 7am to 11pm (ET).
2015 Owen C. Hammons Scholarship - UAW Local 862 initiated the Owen C. Hammons Scholarship Fund in 1988. Annually, Local 862 awards three $2,000.00 scholarships to the sons, daughters, stepsons, or stepdaughters of UAW Local 862 members. Applicants must be a high school senior and must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college or university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued. Awards must be used for the 2015-2016 school year. No member of UAW Local 862 will be affiliated with the scholarship review and award process.
To obtain application requirements, and/or an application, contact the Financial Secretary, Scott Edwards, at the Fern Valley Road Union Hall (502) 969-9136, or President Todd Dunn, at the Chamberlain Lane Union Hall (241-9491), or one of the Building Chairpersons, Barry Ford, LAP, or Scott Eskridge, KTP, pick up an application at either union hall, or visit uaw862.org to view and print all information.
UAW REGION 8 & LABOR NIGHT IN SMASHVILLE - The Nashville Predators and Bridgestone Arena are pleased to welcome and recognize all members, friends, and family of UAW Region 8 as well as area Labor Council members with the exciting one-of-a-kind NHL experience known as Smashville! Join us as the Nashville Predators vs. Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 7:00pm. Customized discounts including all-you-can-eat and drink options, Megatron recognition, and email or will-call ticket delivery options. Dental Insurance Change - Effective 1/1/15 all active employees who had BC/BS Dental have been transferred to Delta Dental of Michigan. You should have already received your new cards and a letter from NESC explaining the details. If for some reason you did not please call contact Delta at (844)223-8520 for replacements.
LAP Red Cross Blood Drive – Monday, February 23 thru Wednesday, February 25; 7:00am – 1:00pm and 5:00pm-11:00pm. The location will be in the Cafeteria. You must bring your picture ID when you give blood. Be The Match will also be present to register volunteers to be bone marrow donors.
