WEEKLY UPDATE April 17, 2015
ORDER BANK:
2015 Escape: 32,267 24 days’ supply
2015 MKC: 2,893 30 days’ supply
VACATION SHUTDOWN: Shutdown period has now been confirmed for the week of June
29th.
CONTRACT NEGOTIATION: The Local Contract talks have begun. The Local 862
Leadership: Barry Ford, Fred Willard, Jamie Burke, Mike Sondergeld, and Jeff
Bailey (Skilled Trades) have officially kicked off.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT: Open enrollment will run from April
13th thru May 22nd. You may enroll yourself, your spouse, and dependents by
going online at: www.unicare.com/ford or by calling 1-800-843-8184.
Representatives will be in the plant on Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th
at the following times: 6 am, 9-9:30 am, 12:30 pm-6 pm, 9-9:30 pm, and 12:30
am.
WEIGHT WATCHERS: Weight Watchers course starting April 20th cost is $25 your
ETAP pays the rest there will be information meetings Monday, April 13th and
Thursday April 16th. You will need to sign up then and turn in your $25 check so
we can process your ETAP. If you are currently in Weight Watchers you will get
instruction in class on signing back up. There will be an informational meeting
on Monday, April 20th and Thursday, April 23rd. For more information, please

BEREAVEMENT: The company is checking ALL bereavement claims to verify that
they are qualifying relatives. So far, there have been 38 cases that the
company found to be false claims. Please check with family members to make sure
of the relationship.
WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY: The UAW Local 862 LAP Chaplaincy Committee is hosting a
vigil “Prayer at the Flagpole” for Worker’s Memorial Day. Please join us
at any time through these 2 hours in prayer and remembrance of our union
Brothers and Sisters who have died in the workplace. We will also be in prayer
for the future of our Plants, Leadership, and the emotional & spiritual welfare
of our Brothers and Sisters. Everyone is welcome to attend – hourly and
salary. Date: Wednesday, April 22nd Time: 4pm – 6pm Place: At the
Flagpole in front of the Administration Building.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT SHOWCASE: The JA Program will have a “Pitch Competition
and Showcase” designed to turn classrooms into startups (similar to the Shark
Tank TV Show). The event will be held on April 20th. There will be a reception
and high school showcase from 6-7 pm and the competition will begin at 7pm at
The Kentucky Center For The Arts. JK McKnight, the founder and captain of the
Forecastle Festival will be the keynote speaker.
REGION 8 DRIECTOR’S CLUB VCAP AWARD: Your Region 8 Director’s Club Award
has arrived! You may pick up your award at your respective Union Hall, Monday
thru Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Remember, members donating $25.00 or
more per month belong to the Director’s Club Platinum Level. If you would
like to increase your donation, you could receive additional gifts, such as
jackets, coolers, watches, etc. To increase your VCAP contribution, please
stop by one of the union halls to pick up a VCAP contribution card. If you have
questions in regards to picking up your award, please contact the secretaries
either union hall. Thank you for your continued support in VCAP.

MAYOR’S GIVE A DAY: April 18-26, 2015 will be the 4th Annual Mayor's
Give-A-Day program in the city of Louisville. This year, the Louisville
Assembly Plant is asking for volunteers to help the Boys and Girls Club of
Kentuckiana and Kids Against Huger. All volunteers will receive a shirt for
volunteering as well as having their name put into a drawing for a $50 gift
card. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the attached form
and click on the "Submit Form" button on the upper right hand side of the
screen. Forms are also available in the Main Cafeteria. Thank you in advance
for your participation and assisting in our community.
PERSONAL RELIEF/RESTROOM BREAKS: The following process shall be set in place
as the regular practice here at the Louisville Assembly Plant. The Union and the
Company recognize that from time to time relief may be required outside of the
regular break or lunch rotation. Personal relief should be provided within 20
minutes of proper notification. No employee shall have to choose between
discipline or embarrassing themselves on the assembly lines.
MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES: Classes have started for the UAW members. They will be
held on Wednesdays at 5:30 at the LAP Union Hall. This is free of charge for the
Local 862 membership. Please contact Damon O’Keefe at 502-593-0093 if you
