Postal Workers’ Food Drive – On May 9th , 2015 at least five volunteers are needed to work at one of two USPS locations for the Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive. Food and drinks will be provided and restrooms will be open for volunteers. Please email Vera Newton (vnewton2@ford.com) if you can volunteer. The time is 2:30pm -6:00pm (until last mail carrier truck comes in). The Louisville locations are 4772 Allmond Avenue 40209, and 3131 Crums Lane 40216.
Elk run golf club Discounts – Elk Run is under new ownership and a UAW 862 member and Ford LAP employee is one of the new owners! There is a newly remodeled pro shop, remodeled restaurant with new menu, new Riviera Bermuda fairways, and a new fleet of E-Z-Go RXV golf carts. Golf and/or Pool Memberships available. Private lessons and clinics available from PGA Professional Staff.
Ford/UAW 862 Members 2015 Discounts are weekdays (Mon-Fri) after 12:00pm, 18 holes w/cart $25.00 (regular $35.00) and weekends (Sat-Sun) after 12:00pm, 18 holes w/cart $35.00 (regular $45.00).
Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay – Teamsters Local 89 and 783 are sharing some of their “park buyout” tickets for May 17, 2015 with Local 862 and other unions. The cost of the tickets is only $12.00. These tickets are available for members to purchase at both Local 862 union halls, and beginning next week members will also be able to purchase tickets from Mark Baker at the KTP plant and Gayle Parker at the LAP plant. We can only accept cash so please be sure to have enough for the amount of tickets you wish to purchase.
2015 Black Lake Family Scholarship – Reminder: All active or laid off UAW members in good standing are eligible to apply for a Family Scholarship if you have never attended the program before. Application packets are available at both Local 862 union halls. Deadline for submission is June 1, 2015. Info on Black Lake is available at uawblacklake.com.
