There is a new post published on the UAWLAP.org Site.
Details of the post follow.
Middle School Summer Fun at JA!
Junior Achievement is excited to offer its engaging, high quality summer
programs for groups of youth served by non-profit, education, daycare and
religious organizations throughout Kentuckiana. . .or any organization of any
kind that has a group of a minimum of 20 young people who would like to learn
more about entrepreneurship, to be better prepared for the workforce and to be
better able to manage their paychecks once they start receiving them!
(Please see attached
flyer.) StartupFlyer-V2: uawlap.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/StartupFlyer-V2.pdf
JA has volunteers and staff ready to take our Startup Camp to groups of young
people to locations throughout Kentuckiana during the month of June, 2015. We
will fill available slots on a first come, first served basis.
Thanks to a generous anonymous sponsor, it’s free to the host organization and
young people!
We have programs geared for elementary, middle and high school aged students.
We have a few requirements, in return for our delivery of the JA programs:
We must be able to serve a minimum of 20 students at one time, but larger groups
can be divided and we would provide more volunteers.
We ask that a host staff member, camp counselor or teacher remain with the
group at all times to support the volunteer, especially to avoid behavioral
problems.
We will need a block of 3 hours for each interactive, activity-based program.
Each year we hold JA BizCamp weeks and Startup Day Camps which cost $15-195 per
student at the JA Center. This year, we are excited about taking our summer
programs on the road in partnership with our fellow youth-serving organizations
in the region---for free, thanks to our anonymous sponsor! If this pilot
program goes well, we will plan to offer it to the community every year.
For more information, please contact Lauren Wheatley, Education Director, at
lwheatley@jaky.org or 502-569-9217. We’d love to partner with any
youth-serving organization to help ensure that our community’s young people
are inspired and prepared for success in the global economy.
