Got the news that C crew body will be forced to do system fill the third week of July. Was told it was because C crew was low OT hours. This isn't an OT opportunity. Couldn't get a straight answer as to why it wasn't a survey, and then forced low seniority.
At this point, Ive given up ever getting a legit answer, anybody out there got one?

Every system fill I can remember in over 19 years has been done by survey. This is a layoff week and should be an "ask high, force low" situation. My question is how are they determining who works system fill out in final?

We were asked last week in final. Must know at least 4 jobs on the team. Short work week beats the headache of filing unemployment and sub.

I agree about SWW vs UI/SUB. Just survey and let seniority people have the option to work. Plus, I know that there are tons of B Crew people that have minimal seniority who get the extra week.. Whereas C Crew is the last shift to leave on June 28 and the first forced back on July 16. If you can survey one department, you can survey them all.

For real it's a lay off..How can a lower senior person stay home when the higher has to come in???What the fuck is a union for?

The UAW response I received was that it is not contractual that the company has to ask for volunteers. Just because that is the way they have done it in the past does not mean that is how they have to do it. In other words the union said "" THEY CAN DO THAT ""...screw c-crew... last ones out and first ones back!!!!

Yep just like this past Sunday they needed people to come in for Bodyshop,B crew was lead then A crew was next..Still needed people so they let other departments come in instead of asking C crew to come in?Said They were worried about people working a double?WTF?We get asked just about every Friday do we wanna work a double in case they're short on B crew!!Whats the difference?Plus the people that came in from other depts had to go to a class on Saturday to be eligible to work Sunday???We get fucked comin and goin ..

It has nothing to do with whether it's a layoff week or overtime equalization. Here's how and why it went down this way.
Company: " C Crew is doing system fill in body because if A or B Crew people come in, they would get time and a half Saturday and double for Sunday. Since those are normal work days for C Crew, they have to work to save us money."
UAW slappies: "OK. Good thinking! Let us think of a good way to spin it. Like, low overtime crew, or not a layoff. Those should work."
I swear, they think we are all idiots out here.

If I had been asked I was going to come in for system fill anyway and I am on C Crew. So for me personally it doesn't bother me. That being said I think they should have surveyed for volunteers. I agree it is BS forcing one shift based on money. And we all know that was the reason.

Here's the thing I don't get ,at least 60% of my team are like "oh well at least we don't get short work week ?"It's not that much more money!I don't get how a UNION PAYING UAW SENIOR EMPLOYEE could be happy at work while a person with less seniority is at home getting paid.Am I nuts???(don't answer that)lol..They should start at the bottom of the list and go up until a shift is formed and work those people...And it won't be any Dayshift,Hell truth be known dayshift guys would come in anyway..And the union should make the Co pay over time to the B crew people it would affect.B crew don't have to report back to work till Monday so working Sunday would be like any other Sunday they volunteer to work ..And believe me they sure come in for that ??It sure ain't done the way it would of went down back when our Dads worked for unions...BS

Has anyone called the back-up bargaining commitee or Scott or Ronnie etc. themselves and see what their saying and to have them tell you the page number that says they can change from the previous formatt of asking high and forcing low out of ALL THREE CREWS?
