WEEKLY UPDATE September 11, 2015
TO ALL PRODUCTION AND SKILLED TRADES MEMBERS OF UAW LOCAL 862: On behalf of
President Jimmy Settles, the National Ford Negotiators, and the Leadership Team
of Local 862, we would like to THANK YOU for your tremendous support on the
strike vote! As you know, it was an overwhelming 98.1% in support of a strike
authorization vote. Thanks to you, we have sent a clear message to Ford Motor
Company that we are prepared to take the necessary steps in order to achieve
equity in our National and Local Agreements. Your Negotiating Team will now be
prepared to accomplish their goal in securing a contract that is fair and
equitable for all parties concerned. Thanks again for your participation in
this important matter!
LOCAL AND NATIONAL AGREEMENTS: Both, our Local and National Agreements, are
set to expire Monday, September 14th at midnight. Our Local and National
Negotiating Teams are hard at work trying to negotiate the best possible
contracts for our Local and National UAW Brothers and Sisters. While there is
no current known outcome (extension, strike, or otherwise) of either the Local,
National Negotiations, or Agreements, please have our UAW Negotiators in your
thoughts and prayers as they fight for our wages, rights, and benefits in the
upcoming Agreements!

again be held at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect, and will benefit March of
Dimes. There will be two flights held this year with shotgun starts beginning
at 7:30 am and 1:30 pm. We are currently looking hole sponsors and additional
teams for the afternoon flight only, as the morning flight is already full.

REMEMBER 9/11: Do you remember where you were the morning of September 11,
2001 when al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes and carried out suicide
attacks against the US? Timeline of the morning: At 8:45 am, the first plane
crashed into the North Tower of The World Trade Center in New York. At 9:03
am, a second plane hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York.
At 9:45 am, a third plane crashed into the west side of the Pentagon in
Washington, DC. At 10:00 am, the South Tower collapsed from the impact of the
airplane. At 10:10 am, a fourth hijacked plane was crashed into a field in
Pennsylvania thanks to a brave group of passengers who decided to take matters
into their own hands and not allow the terrorists to hurt any more innocent
people. Finally, at 10:30 am, the North Tower of The World Trade Center
collapsed. All in all, over 3,000 people were killed as a direct result of
these attacks. These disastrous deeds lead to an immediate US attack, a war
against the Taliban in Afghanistan, and an eventual capture of Osama bin Laden
in May, 2011. Please be mindful of the events that transpired on this horrific
day and the way if forever changed daily life all over the world. Please be
sure to THANK any and all of our service men and women, first responders,
firefighters, EMS, and Police Officers for the essential civic duties they
perform each and every day!
