Better vote down the local agreement Sunday. If the company and union are fighting over the interpretation of the language there is no reason to vote for something that is already that ambiguous. Never mind the fine print, hell they can't even agree on the highlights. Why would you vote in something that is already in dispute? If you look at the highlights you'll see where they want to separate Final into three departments, Trim, Chassis, and Final so that they can equalize overtime. It states that utilities will be assigned to the new final area by seniority. Sounds okay, right? Depends on who is interpreting. The Union says there is "X" number of Utility positions in Final and they will survey "X" number of Utilities in all three departments, all shifts, and move them to Final. Current utilities in Final will be moved to the vacated Utility spots in Trim and Chassis created by the survey. The Company says no that's not what they agreed to. They say the current Utilities in Final will be grandfathered in, which has been the usual and customary practice for the entire 30 years that I've been here, and that any NEW openings will be surveyed for according to seniority. Word is the company and union had a meeting on Wednesday to iron this out but no one has heard anything. There is one utility in final who has been there 14 years, came by survey in the old days but they don't want to honor the old survey. BULLSHIT. You get a different story on how this is going down from each supervisor and each committee person that you ask. So how can they expect us to vote on a contract that has language IN THE HIGHLIGHTS that is so ambiguous that even they can't agree on it?

Most people I have talked to said they are going to vote no on the local LAP contract. I have yet to hear one person say they are voting yes to it.

The tactic is whomever is in attendance at Sundays meeting gets to vote. Smart thinking on they're part to get it passed, yet shady.

Most are voting no because they don't care about ac in the restrooms and parking lot restriped. A lot of people want Gatorade available at a lower temperature. Some want the new weight room finished that was negotiated a few contracts ago instead of getting new flooring in the old weight room. Chairman said he was going to get 2 ordering periods for uniform vouchers. They told the membership that all the line speed increases and extra hours would pay off in negotiations. That was a big lie. We get parking lot redone and ac in the restrooms. What a joke.

Don't forget that we still do not have the WiFi in the break rooms that was promised last contract.

Don't forget that we still do not have the WiFi in the break rooms that was promised last contract. The WiFi was negotiated that the uaw could install. It was never negotiated to make the company do it. Since its going to cost money out of the union funds they probably will not install it throughout the plant.

Great time for one of our local bargainers to jump ship. Would love for someone to spill the beans on this. I only got one very vague sentence.

I am not in the group that is affected by this fiasco thus have not been privy to what is going on and only heard the vague sentence from one person. I don't have the scoop, only one vague sentence but it did include the same noun that you used, BARGAINER, so obviously no coincidence. The fiasco that I stated in the original post was conveyed to me by several people of outstanding character whom I consider creditable so the post itself is very true. The meeting tomorrow will be very interesting.
Although I think that this is the wrong avenue to take to rectify the overtime situation, that is not why I started the thread. I started it because I think that everyone should know that the folks who are negotiating our contract apparently have problems with comprehension, or maybe just one of them, and apparently need to attend anger management classes or may need to be seen for mental health issues since obviously they heard something in the negotiations that the others didn't hear, voices maybe. The one vague sentence that was conveyed to me also included the word vendetta. If one Bargainer has a vendetta the rest of them should quell it since it makes all of them look incompetent. Again, I do not know what the original altercation was that started this, only that it was one person from the group affected and one Bargainer. Our Bargainers are suppose to be somewhat professional and this fiasco hurts all of them. It is also somewhat embarrassing. I just don't see voting on a contract that has ambiguous language. This vote should be postponed until the language can be corrected to clarify which avenue they intend to take. Whichever avenue they agree upon should be spelled out with all of the I's dotted and T's crossed, not this vague ambiguous language that they think is fit for a contract.

I heard the same thing from a very reliable source myself. It's a shame those guys have to act like that. This local here is really becoming a joke. We really need new blood from the top to the bottom. Just my opinion.
