Veterans’ Day Parade – We have worked hard to put together the 2015 Veterans Day Parade. I am very disappointed that the current outcome that has our Veterans Day holiday moved by Ford Motor Company to the 16th of November. Our veterans and members deserve the right to celebrate Veterans Day as it is observed nationally. I don’t think everyone gets the true meaning of this day of remembrance. If we all did, we would be celebrating the day together or working a volunteer holiday at our own discretion.
I hope you can attend this year's Veterans Day Parade and Massing of the Colors on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015. This is a special year, as we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII, the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War and the 40th anniversary of its end. The parade will march up Fourth and Chestnut Streets headed north on Fourth Street to Main Street and then west on Main Street to Sixth Street. It will include veterans’ service organizations, restored antique military vehicles and equipment, as well as active duty military units and re-enactment groups from all periods. Our veterans will ride in the firetruck. There will be lots of music, speeches and gratitude filling the downtown area.
