I was asked to create a board for our retirees... What a perfect time to do so since we can't seem to get them a pension raise in our contracts anymore. If you take into account the $250 annual bonus, they have officially received a $20.83/month raise. Congrats!  I will never vote yes to any contract that doesn't get our retirees a pension raise. |

Thanks Scott! We old folks may be gone but we haven't forgotten our brothers and sisters who are still actively working. A lot of what's been happening impacts retirees. I retired June 1st of this year and I've been asked, "Why didn't you wait for a buy-out with the new contract?" My answer now is the same as it was when I decided to retire. I was ready to retire. I had saved and paid off all of bills, except my mortgage. (Which I refinanced and saved an additional $425 a month.) As for waiting for a buy-out, well, I wouldn't trade these last months of retirement for $30,000 or even $70,000. Life's too short to work for a company (and a union) who really doesn't have your best interests in mind. I have many great memories of my co-workers and most of the union reps I have had the pleasure of dealing with. I left before I became so bitter and resentful it would have poisoned my life. I recommend it for anyone who has the opportunity and financial means to do so. When i first started at Ford in 1989, an old employee gave me the best advice...."Don't make Ford your life. Put in your 30 years and walk away and make Ford wonder who the hell you were!" Good luck to all of you. I hope some day you'll find the satisfaction of retirement as I have!

Yell i guess the retirees were taken care of as well as the active workers. We can't vote on anything we don't have a voice.Guess it wouldn't make much difference anyway.
