I'd say a lot of existing TLs will be out...

I'd say a lot of existing TLs will be out... I've only had a few good ones, so I hope you're right.

Seems to me the company is wanting to hand choose them. When I was in trim I along with a lot of the people that I would want to be team leader had r&w's most of the time for not running when our jobs were overloaded. With this language they would be out.

We haven't had teams, team meetings or anything resembling a team in years. You can't have a team in a union situation. It will never work. WE ARE NOT TOYOTA!

You are right, but I would rather the person that deals with management from the "cluster" of people that I work with be on my side rather than theirs.

I've had a FEW goods TLs thru the years but as everyone that gets ELECTED they end up turning a cold shoulder to the members of the team and worrying about their lazy selves..I've even had a few that acted like they were management and now they are...Which is fine but wait til you are before you fuck over the team..

I had one that docked my pay daily if I left early after finishing my relief...blew my mind. I'm still a fan of bidding them by seniority and calling them "upgraders"...you still end up with good ones and shitty ones, but I had a lot of good upgraders and a few shitty ones vs. the opposite for TLs.

When you give someone a title like LEADER, their heads swell to the size of State Fair award winning pumpkins. It's too late at this plant, the team concept has killed morale/work environment.

A case can be made for both ways. I believe we went down that road. Honoring seniority is never a bad thing. Not wanting something as subjective as a company/union interview to be the determining factor.

Don't understand why each team doesn't start at the top of seniority list asking each member till someone takes it.Then after 1yr you start at the person under the current TL and ask again??Sounds super easy. But for some reason the Co likes the popularity contest.I guess so they can sway him or her easier?

Scott says we are exempt from the team leader language. It states in contract locals can ask for exemption from this issue of team leaders. Same as last contract where we were exempt from that team leader language. All will stay the same at KTP with electing team leaders and the 2yr term.
