There are UAW members at Local 833 on strike at the moment in which it has been identified that they have members in need. If you have any donations for the local union to distribute to their local union strike fund set up to distro to their members, please refer to the information below.
Donations: We are currently accepting material & cash donations. Donations to the "Strike Fund" help defray our Locals expenses & operating costs. The "Kohler UAW Local 833 Workers Relief Fund" helps our members who are most in need. We are working on donation buttons, which will be set up in the next week. UAW 2015 HOLIDAY SHOPPERS GUIDE – This holiday season support American workers by purchasing union products for your family. UAW/FORD COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR DEPENDENT CHILDREN – The newly negotiated program is effective beginning January 1, 2016. Applications can be accepted only for courses that begin after January 1, 2016. The scholarship is $1500 per calendar year per eligible dependent. Dependent children of Active UAW represented Ford employees, employee’s spouse or same sex domestic partners are eligible. To learn more about this scholarship visit the tuition assistance website at www.myuawford.com after January 1, 2016.
11th ANNUAL SERVICE FOR PEACE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROGRAM – The UAW Local 862 and Ford are the presenting sponsors again this year. The goal is to increase the number of military families served from 500 in 2014 to 1,000 in 2015. The Christmas turkey meals will be given out this year on December 21st at Fourth Street Live. We will need volunteers to be at the Fourth Street Live Food Court on Sunday Dec. 20th from 1:00pm-5:00pm to help set up tables for the assembly process and again on Dec. 21st from 5:00am-1:00pm to assemble and distribute meal boxes.
2016 OWEN C. HAMMONS SCHOLARSHIP - UAW Local 862 initiated the Owen C. Hammons Scholarship Fund in 1988. Annually, Local 862 awards three, $2,000.00 scholarships to the sons, daughters, stepsons, or stepdaughters of UAW Local 862 members. Applicants must be a high school senior and must be accepted into a U.S. accredited college or university, community college, technical or trade school at the time the award is issued. More information, including how to obtain an application, is available in the December issue of the OnLine Magazine.
FUND FOR THE ARTS UNION NIGHTS – Union members can receive a 20% discount to see the Louisville Ballet’s Brown-Forman Nutcracker at the Kentucky Center on December 13, 2015. To receive this discount visit www.kentuckycenter.org or call 502-587-7777. Prices range from $35.00 to $110.00 (Discount cannot be combined with other offers). Guests are also invited to join the Sugarplum Party at 11:30am prior to the matinee performance. Tickets are available for $20.00.
