I just wanted to let everyone know that thanks to all the wonderful awful negotiated crappy long hours and poor pay rates that our lovely union members have negotiated our quality is horrible. Look around outside. What do you see? Sad part is the customers are getting a less quality vehicle as well. Truth to the reality if the union could actually negotiate better pay and benefits for the new hires then more qualified individuals would show up to work. Now that they moved the chassis cabs up north to Ohio who knows whats going to happen. Just remember to do your homework when it comes time to vote. Ask yourself," Am I making time and a half after 8 hours"....NO and now I'm working four 11 hour days and making a crap load less. Funny how this works.

they base quality on warranty repairs... which right now is way down..so there is no basis for your statements..Customer satisfaction has never been higher.what we see and what the customer actually gets are 2 different things,

Quality has nothing to do with anything the union has done. It is now and has always been management's fault. Period.
If workers continue to do poor workmanship, its mngmts fault. Poor quality parts? Mngmt. Absenteeism? Mngmt. Bypassing robots? Mngmt. Ok'ing questionable fit and finish? Mngmnt.
This place runs the way ford wants it to run. If not, they'd change things.

I really could care less ,but usually when we have a quality issue there's a meeting or handbill ..Haven't seen either?The hours are horrible!!!When are we thru with the 11 hours ?Didnt the building chairman say feb. 2016???

You really have to not care.
You can't do anything about it
So you can't stress over it.
The things that matter are out of our control. The small things that we can control don't make the real difference.
When the tranny in your new Taurus goes out at 40k you could care less about a slightly miss fit panel that you likely never saw.
When the head gasket on yours, your neighbors, and sisters blows at around 40k, you all will never by another Windstar, even if they rename it a freestar.
Little squeak in your new truck? You forgot all about it when that $10k option 6.0 turbo diesel breaks.
Every issue I've had ( none mechanical thank goodness) with my car has been poor quality products from suppliers.
My moms Focus?
The shit transmission is not due to the assembler.
The crappy door rubber that keeps falling down, is not due to the assembler.
Do YOUR job as best you can. Then go home and forget about it.

I've worked here almost 21 yrs..And have lost track of the new vehicles I've bought.( no f250s)though.And I still have the 1996 explorer I bought new..I think our quality is great.Ive never had a problem..But I've had shit loads of trouble from DEALERSHIPS...

Quality is as good as the effort that you put in the job to do it right. You half ass your job then it's half assed going down the line. AWOLS hurt because the double up you have on the job doesn't want to do their half because they're to busy on the phone looking at social media or texting. Don't blame it on the pay,hours or everything else. If everyone only got 40 hours then they would be bitching about no overtime. Quality is only as good as YOU make it

We have some control over "initial" quality. We have a lot of control over squeaks and rattles. We have no control over the quality of parts we receive, or engineering. If you've only ever worked in Trim, then it's easy to see jobs not done so well. Those are usually over loaded jobs. But if someone decides to save $.45 a unit on inferior wiper motors, you don't have control over that. Those things drive owners to Toyo faster than a door panel that's not fully seated. |

If the toiling in the body shop is worn out, or off then the compound effect transfers to trim panels that don't want to fit. To paint that doesn't look 100%.

Thanks machination, I'll try to make it more clear for rayd8roscoe. When we as workers are focused on the exact same part of a truck 650 times a day, and out of those, you get 4 that may have a slight variation of fit or a small defect that the other 646 didn't have, YES we notice it. but you set that truck on a dealership lot and your average customer will never see for the life of the truck, then it becomes a non concern. is it because we dont care? NO, its because the ONLY thing that the company goes by are warranty repairs, if that customer does not complain, then in the company's eyes, IT DID NOT HAPPEN! Most all defects go into the AISE box, all anyone with buyout powers has to do, to make it a good unit, is buy it out. Management does it all the time. It wouldnt matter how much we catch, if management wants it out, all they have to do is buy it out.

When I was a metal repairman they preached "don't worry about the passenger side "just focus on the MONEY side?(Drivers)Because most people get in drive it and check that side only..And I've been told you're looking to hard for defects?WTF.?Guess that's why I gave it up..I'm not into a person paying 60,000 for a truck and it not being 99% perfect.But I do see their mentality,a lot of shit don't get caught til after warranty and it's too late..paint sags,dents.etc...

Reading comprehension as a concept doesn't really exist because there are references to it on the internet. Reading comprehension means, in a nutshell, "comprehending" what you "read". I understand that many people have an aversion to big words. "Comprehending" something means "understanding" it. Therefore, " reading comprehension" means "understanding what you read". For example, if I say "the chicken crossed the road", it doesn't mean "that chicken is a fucking liar who's trying to hide something", it simply means "the chicken crossed the road."
