UAW Region 8 Bowling Tournament – This event is open to all UAW Region 8 Members, active and retired, and will be held on March 19, 2016 at 12:00pm at the Oak Valley Lanes located at 111 Oak Valley Drive, Nashville, TN 37207. It is a team event only. Official entry forms along with rules and regulations are available through the UAW 862 union halls. NO cash please, check or money order only. Entry forms must be submitted by March 4th. Any team that wants to participate must register and pay themselves. Since this is open to any active or retired members, and their spouses, the local union does not sponsor any teams to the regional event.
St. Patrick’s Parade - UAW/FORD is one of the sponsors for the St. Patrick’s Parade this year. Everyone is invited to march in the parade. The parade is Saturday, March 12th, at 3:00pm. UAW members and their families will be passing out beads and candy to the crowd. If you are volunteering in the parade be in the staging area at 1:30pm. Show up early. Find a parking place on a side street then walk to staging area at the corner of Barret Ave. and E. Broadway (Phoenix Hill parking lot). Do not park in Mid City Mall, they will tow you. Active Heroes Military Family COMMUNITY CENTER – Active Heroes Family Center offers programs that assist military families. Their mission is to support U.S. military service members, veterans and their families through physical, educational, and emotional programs that provide coping skills in an effort to eliminate suicide. The programs are free and available to veterans and their family members. Some of those programs include yoga, Crossfit Bootcamp, guitar lessons, and self-defense classes. Upcoming events include a free Crossfit Bootcamp class this Saturday, February 20 at 11:30am, a free yoga class February 27 at 10:00am, and a free legal aid clinic which offers free advice and assistance to veterans also on February 27 from 11:00am-3:00pm. GREATER LOUISVILLE CENTRAL LABOR COUNCIL SOCIAL MEDIA CLASS – Join fellow trade unionists from the Greater Louisville area for a social media class on April 15th, 2016 from 9:00am-2:00pm at 3000 Fern Valley Rd, Louisville, KY 40213. This event is open to anyone at any level of leadership, first come first serve. Learn the do’s and don’ts of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.) in the workplace and your personal life. Hourly Optional Life and Accident Open Enrollment Period will be from March 14, 2016 to April 22, 2016.
Profit Sharing – Profit Sharing will be paid out to all eligible employees on March 10, 2016.
special Retirement Incentives offerings – The time frame for the buyouts (STEP or SRI) ends March 21, 2016. There is an official bulletin from Labor Relations with the details. Applications will not be accepted after March 21. Applications submitted will be irrevocable after March 21. After that date employees cannot withdraw their application nor can employees apply for a different offering.
