There is a new post published on the UAWLAP.org Site.
Details of the post follow.
KTP Retiree Darrell Eugene Ward 1943 - 2016
Ward, Darrell Eugene, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
on Monday, March 21, 2016.
His well-lived life is colored with multiple memories as a cherished husband, a
loving father, a genuine friend and a simple caring faith. Being called "Papaw"
or "Poppy" by his adored grandchildren and cheering them on often at sporting
events were some of his sincerest joys. A talented handyman always looking to
selflessly help another, he enjoyed tinkering with cars and home improvement
projects. An inviting smile and encouraging conversation made him a friend to
many and stranger to none.
Born June 21, 1943 in Louisville, KY; Darrell graduated from Valley High School
in 1961. He retired from Ford Kentucky Truck Plant in 1995 after 31 years of
service. He was an active member and dedicated volunteer of Ormsby Heights
Baptist Church nearly 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Ward; sisters Mildred
Wilkins and Dorothy Brown; and brother A. Ray Ward.
Survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Paula (Booker) Ward; daughters Melissa
Haddaway (Chuck) and Stacy Betz (Joe); grandchildren Josh Betz (Kelly), Scott
Betz (Jessica Barrett), Chase and Ashtyn Haddaway, Abby and Jackson Betz; great
grandchildren Liam Betz, Jase Betz, and Emma Mayo; brother-in-law James Brown;
and a multitude of other family members and friends.
The family is grateful for the love and support shown by many friends, family
members, physicians, nurses, and the staff of Hosparus.
Funeral services will be 12 pm Friday, March 25, 2016, at Ormsby Heights Baptist
Church, 2120 Lower Hunters Trace with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 12-8 pm Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317
Dixie Highway.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Ormsby Heights
Baptist Church.
